We stayed here last night and wished we could have stayed longer, We were met by the owners who were very helpful and gave us plenty of advice about the area, The house was spotless clean and the room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast in the morning was plentiful, fresh and delicious, we drove to the Silver strand beach in Malinbeg and then to the deserted fishing village of Port, before moving on to Ardara. We will definitely be back.
I stayed here with my friend in September 2020. We were made feel at home as soon as we arrived. the rooms were clean and warm and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back to teach gleanndobhar
Our experience at Teach Gleann Dobhar was one of the best we had on our trip to Donegal on our holidays. Margret met us at the door with a warm welcome and is very much the traditional Irish mammy, always asking if we were ok, if we had eaten and if we were warm enough! The rooms are clean and spacious and had Netflix which was perfect on one of the rainy lazy days we decided to have in our room on our holidays. The breakfast and the selection were excellent with lots of different and varied options that you choose the night before, the scones are a particular highlight. Margret was very helpful recommending local restaurants and takeaways. Two things worth noting before you book: 1. As mentioned in other reviews Bailey the family dog has run of the place. If you are a dog lover this wont bother you, he is extremely sweet and cute and stays to the kitchen and common areas, it adds to the family feel of the home. If you are not a dog person than this B&B is not for you. 2. Glencolumbkille is an extremely small and very COVID-19 conscious community. All meals in the village itself have to be booked in advance and I would recommend booking if you are considering eating anywhere in the locality. Catholic mass times are assigned and restricted and so are large gatherings including GAA matches etc. bring your mask and hand sanitizer and be conscious and respectful of these rules when visiting.…
Having read reviews I expected a warm welcome. I called to the door and was greeted by a barking dog and a woman who did not introduce herself. I told her my wife is terrified of dogs and asked if she would put the dog away until we checked in. She told us the dog has the free run of the house and if we did not like it we could go somewhere else. I agreed to go and said goodbye.she shouted at me to give the dog a chance but as I tried to explain my wifes fear she called me stupid and photographed our car. They had booked us in for a meal in a local pub but when we turned up she was there telling the pub that she booked it and cancelled it. The empty pub refused to serve us and she shouted at us to go back to Dublin. We are actually from Drogheda. I believe the phone call before arrival advising to book a meal is an agreement between them and the pub as it remained almost empty during the time we bought and ate our food from Bennys chipper van across the road and it was delicious. Very spiteful behaviour and shows her true nature as opposed to the reviews. I would ask you to see my other reviews if you have doubts about this issue and you will see they are normally favourable but honest.…
A big thanks to Margaret and Martin for a fantastic weekend in the most beautiful part of Donegal! Very welcoming hosts with lots of local knowledge and tips for exploring the surrounding area. There are also several great hikes that leave from near the BnB! The room and breakfast were both fab! Particularly loved the pancakes! We will miss Bailey, their gorgeous dog! Can’t wait until we get the opportunity to come back again!
A family run B & B with a really friendly atmosphere. Margaret and Martin are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. They were great for pointing us in the direction of places of local interest and beauty. Accommodation was super comfy and clean and the food was fabulous!!! You gotta try the pancakes!! We will be back!!
What a great place! Great family run and family friendly bed and breakfast. Beautiful rooms and amazing breakfast (home made bread 💖👌🏼) this is a place we will definitely return to. Only a short walk to the bars, beaches and historic craft village. This is a great place for walking, cycling or just sightseeing. Martin and Margaret were the perfect hosts and dog friendly, if u r going to Glencolmcille this is the spot!!
Had a great stay here and a lovely breakfast which set us all up for the whole day.Margaret and Martin couldn't have been more helpful and the place is lovely.Great hosts and very friendly and full of great advice in where to go and what to see.we will definitely be back!!!
We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the beautiful area around Glencolumbkille (the folk village is well worth a visit). We were made very welcome. Our room was snug and very clean with much appreciated little extras such as safety pins, plasters and so on in a little basket. We were very happy in the evening when we arrived back after some sightseeing, soaked to the skin, to find the central heating on. So we could get warm and dry our clothes and shoes. We had access to tea, coffee and biscuits in the dining room and had a good choice of breakfasts. What made this place so special was the kindness of Martin. We left some shoes behind and he immediately emailed us. We picked up the message a bit later and would have had to have done a 3 hour round trip to collect them but Martin told us to wait a minute and he would try and sort something. Five minutes later he rang us to tell us that someone he knew was travelling nearby that evening and he arranged for them to deliver the shoes to our next B and B. How kind! So much appreciated! We will be sure to visit Martin and Margaret next time we are in the area.…
We really enjoy our night in Margaret and Martin’s b&b. Everything was clean, bed was very comfortable in room 3 and we have our own bathroom inside the room. The best was the breakfast, Margaret prepared full Irish breakfast and home made scones and banana bread. Walking distance to the small village. Very reasonable price. Highly recommended place to stay in.
