Everything we needed for a great family reunion. Walking distance to pub, cafe, beaches, shop. Recommended for large groups. Thanks for looking after us so well, Maya! Maybe next time we’ll see Liam neeson!
We had a lovely time at ionad suil guesthouse house, we hired the whole house as there was a large number of us, self catering for 1 week, plenty of space, comfortable clean beds, Charlie was very accomadating and maya was very helpful. Beautiful location, definitely rebooking for our next holiday. Highly recommend.
Just back from renting the whole house for a week with family and writing this while still fresh in my memory. The house is located in a beautiful quiet location. Pros Some rooms were freshly painted. 5 min walk to the beach. Tennis court adjacent GAA pitch adjacent Beautiful scenery. Nice little grocery shop Bennys chipper nearby FolkVillage Cafe nearby Stunning Silver strand only 15 min drive. Good sized bedrooms with ensuites Sky TV with movies ! Wi-Fi Allowed dogs Cons Kitchen very small and falling apart (literally). No pots provided No dishwasher provided One Toaster was broken Filthy cutlery Filthy floors No vacuum Some rooms had no light bulbs! Some window blinds were broken and unusable One shower drain was blocked Not enough sofas or lounge seats One out of the 3 Sofas was broken (broken leg) No laundry facilities Iron was too big and heavy to bring to bedrooms to use. Showers were completely ridiculous, like the ones at swimming pools were you keep pressing the button for water. Also you can’t select the temperature of the water so it got scalding especially for children. There was a plug socket hanging out of the wall, and ceiling spot hanging out of ceiling. The house was advertised as free WI-FI but the owner still charged us €60, and which was mostly unusable and unreliable for a large group Also we were charged an extra €100 due to 2 small dogs, (for cleaning fees apparently ) yet the house was pretty dirty when we arrived, especially the kitchen. Most things in house were extremely old or broken and dirty. To be honest We didn’t complain too much to the representative about our concerns as the owner was abroad and the person in charge didn’t seem to have a clue so it seemed pointless. We were all desperate for a holiday and just happy to get away for a week! We paid €3500 for the week. Given the condition of the house I believe this was a complete rip off. We have stayed in many beautiful holiday homes around the country and I can safely say that. To summarise, The house is not suitable for large groups self catering.…
Really nice place to visit. The rooms were nice with ensuite. Lovely beach nearby. We vistited Sliabh Liag Cliffs , An Port and Mail Beg. Beautiful walks and sights. Thanks Charlie and Maya for a great stay.
We had a lovely stay here, Charlie the owner was always around and very helpful. The accommodation is close to the beach, shop, pub with lovely food and hill walks. we went during Covid restrictionists so no kitchen or lounge area was open to use but the outside seating was perfect to chill and have a few drinks.
Ionad siuil is in a great location. At the moment due to Covid the kitchen is closed, but Charlie was happy to provide bowls and spoons for us as we had cereal and milk with us. The local information given by our host was useful and on our last day, the brunch in the Glencolmcille heritage centre was excellent. No TV was not a problem in this most very beautiful location - you should try to go to malainn beag beach, it’s perfect.
We had a large group booking (11 of us) to stay at Ionad Suíl as we were all attending the October Irish language weekend course at Oideas Gael. We were all so happy with our stay - the bedrooms were all nice and had ensuite bathrooms, the kitchen was easy to cook in, and the communal dining area/living room was spacious. There was room to park outside and we were only two minutes walk from the village shop and pubs, as well as five minutes from the beach. Maya was on hand to help us with anything we needed and she was very welcoming and accommodating. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, I think we would all be very happy to return here again.
Whether you’re a Gaeilgeoir, a Painter, a Walker or a Lover of Irish Traditional Music and you happen to find yourself in beautiful Glencolmcille in County Donegal, you would do very well to stay in Ionad Siul. Midway between Roarty’s –which is The Pub for Trad Music Sessions – and Oideas Gael (for Irish Courses), Ionad Siul is also ideally situated for enjoying the stunning coastal scenery and the local walks. Rooms are basic but very clean and very well maintained. Some rooms look towards the mountains and the sea. There is a large kitchen for storing or cooking your food (when you don’t feel like a Benny’s Fish and Chips!!), and a spacious common area where you can eat, drink, chat and socialize. Maya the Manager is so warm and welcoming, and always ready for a chat. Both Maya and the owner are also very knowledgeable about What To Do and Where To Go. Bain Triail As!! Beidh me ar ais Aris.…
We had a wonderful weekend at Ionad Suìl The service was excellent Friendly, helpful Staff ....Mia a great host ! Close to amazing walks and beaches and great Pubs with music and Craic Definitely will go again soon !
Just back after three lovely days in Gleann Cholm Cille. Staff friendly and helpful. Ionad Siúil has great views of area and centrally located...eateries, Folk Village, Oideas Gael landguage/cultural centre, pubs, shop, beach, marked hikes...all a couple of minutes from front door. The one thing i would have liked would have been more Gaeilge, given that it was GCC a Gaeltacht area. Overall, very enjoyable experience and woukd recommend to fellow travellers
