Relaxed atmosphere, charming wooden pavilion style building amid prolific veg gardens, breakfast ingredients supplied including eggs, shared rooms, OK for family but kind of crowded for singles. Showers & washing machines available. Handy for walks along Golden Bay.

This place was perfect. Two girls looking for relaxing and chilling out. The house is clean and tidy. We stayed in a lovely separate unit, shared facilities in the main house. The couple running it were happy to chat and help with anything they could. Other guests were mature and friendly. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Family and...

Our family of four, two kids four and six, stated in the outside cabin. They put in a fourth bed for us all made up. Enough room to organize our stuff for the Abel Tasman hike. Chris was great with the kids, showing his bees, chickens and vegetable garden. Kitchen was kept clean and there was toast for breakfast, option...

Can't recommend this highly enough. Spotless, modern but homely rooms, great facilities, real family feel due to limited guest numbers. Complimentary breakfast of home made bread/toast, delicious eggs, bacon, whatever for a little extra. Chris and Hiromi can't do enough for you - I was able to dry my soaked tent and hiking gear in no time. Chris introduced me...

This is a great backpackers accommodation. Nice rooms, clean bathrooms, wooden floors and a nice outside deck with fab views. Free kayaks to use in the beautiful lagoon. Very helpful hosts. They will organize transport to/from Brown Hut if you intend to walk the Heaphy Track. You will have a relaxing and comfortable stay. Recommended.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for Christmas. This backpackers is a wonderful little spot with such nice owners. We really enjoyed our stay and met some great people during the holiday. The bread in the mornings is delicious and the accommodation is clean, comfortable, and makes you feel at home!

Stayed here one night in a double room and wish it would have been longer. Although there are only shared bathrooms, this was one of my favorite accommodations of my NZ trip. It is an atmospheric old house with a nice common room and a spacious kitchen. It has a lovely view of the harbor and the owners are absolutely...

We were greeted by the friendliest dog in the world whose owner was also super friendly. She introduced us by name to everybody staying at the hostel as she showed us round and was also great help when I later locked our car keys in the car (doh!). The hostel is a lovely old wooden house with big rooms well...

Somerset house in Collingwood is a fine old house with a stunning, varnished wooden floor, carefully looked after by Chris and Hiromi the hosts. Both gave us a warm and personal welcome and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, even providing parkas for the rainy Farewell Spit bird excursion. The free breakfast was great with homemade...

I've stayed at a lot of backpackers around New Zealand and this one is up there with the very best. Gorgeous views and peaceful surroundings make it a delightful location to unwind in and use as a base to explore the nearby attractions. Set in an old vicarage right behind a historic church, the village of Colingwood is two minutes...
