A small upscale inn located in Playa Junquillal on the Pacific Coast of Guanacaste. Our 3 modern rooms and 1 bedroom casita offer serenity with close access to Playa Junquillal, Negra and Avellanas. Club Arbol offers our guests incredible pool, gym, tennis and bbq facilities. Yoga is offered both onsite and in the surrounding communities. Located less than an hour from Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, the serene little beach community of Playa Junquillal offers restaurants, a super market within walking distance of the hotelito and a 2 mile long beach where you can see mangroves, tide pools and giant turtles. Junquillal has a program for sea turtle restoration in which you can participate with local guides. Horseback riding, paddle boarding, surfing, hiking and ziplines are all close by. This is not the place for a hot nightlife but a laid back vacation.

I booked one casita for one week and enjoyed my stay very much. The area around the hotelito is amazingly beautiful. You can park your car right in front of your casita. The beach is es only a few minutes away and there is a very good restaurant within walking distance. There is a gym for Workout right next to the (incredible large) pool. Both were included so I went there everyday. There was no breakfast included during my stay because the owners had changed but I did not have to pay for it. The told me in the future they will also serve breakfast. I think the price for this hotel is absolutely okay and I will come back again next year for sure.

I booked our casita after new owners took over. I emailed numerous times to arrange payment, confirm our reservation and ask questions and never received a response. I sent Facebook messages, finally received a response to call them via what’s app. I tried calling several times, no response. I fb messaged again - they said they would call me soon. They never called. We did not know if we had a place to stay when we arrived. When we did arrive, it became clear the new owner hadn’t run a business before. The casita needed cleaning - maybe it’d been empty for a while? The housekeeper changed our sheets the day after we arrived (then never again during our 2 week stay). The housekeeper did, however, bring towels every day. The owner’s dogs are not friendly. One night we heard them barking all night. The owner asked for cash payment via a note on our front porch, stating that she did not have a CC machine, WiFi, or a working phone. We did not feel comfortable giving cash. We walked up to the owners residence on our last day to discuss payment. We agreed to pay via PayPal when we got home to Calgary. When our plane landed and I turned on my phone, I received a Facebook message from the owners personal account stating that if I didn’t pay within 24hrs she would be taking legal action. Receiving a threatening message like this after all my attempts to send payment before our stay from someone who just told me she didn’t have WiFi, a cc machine or a phone is just poor business. I echoed that sentiment in my response to her (which included a screenshot of my payment receipt) - she only responded with “thanks” The area we stayed in was amazingly beautiful, however, the owner was terrible with communication. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but her final message was disheartening. There are a lot of other great places to stay inside of Tierra Pacifica, and in the Playa Junquillal area. I recommend those instead. Side Note: Hotelito Sisisi was listed as a BB. Breakfast was not included.

We did not know if we had a place to stay when we showed up. Terrible communication, never responded to any of our emails, or phone calls. We were told to communicate through Whatʻs App, She never answered the phone, or responded to texts, or FB messages. She asked for cash payment, stating that she did not have a CC machine, WiFi, or a working phone. We did not feel comfortable giving cash, and we agreed to pay through PayPal when we got home to Calgary. In less than 24hrs when my wife turned her phone back on after landing in Calgary, she had sent my wife a message through FB, stating that if we did not pay her immediately she would be taking legal action. As the title of this review states, the area we stayed in was amazingly beautiful. However, the Host was terrible. There are a lot of other great places to stay inside of Tierra Pacifica, and in the Playa Junquillal area. Side Note: Hotelito Sisisi was listed as a BB. Breakfast was not included.
