The rooms are a good size with balconies to catch the cool ocean breeze. Even on the really hot days the breeze was awesome sitting on the balcony, next to the pool or in one of the hammocks or cots on the beach. The hotel is situated at the back of the golf course on the shore opposite seven mile beach. The hotel has a shuttle to get you to Georgetown if you don't rent a car either. Beautiful views from their own beach with no crowds. The sargassum algae was a bit of a pain but that's true for the entire north side of the island. The staff was incredibly accommodating getting us extra blankets and recommendations. We also had dinner at the Driftwood restaurant and was delicious and reasonably priced (especially for hotel restaurants!). Thank you for an awesome trip.
I was finally able to have a vacation after these wild 2 years & I knew it had to be in the Cayman Islands da. My best friend lives on the island however I didn’t want to impose on them for 2 weeks, and I knew I also had to have a room with a kitchen due to how expensive the island can get. Travelling solo for the most part (had family join at one point but we each did our own thing) I also valued safety and security quite highly. I thankfully decided on the Holiday Inn Resort Grand Caymanian, and I can confirm it did NOT disappoint! My room was absolutely amazing! I was ground floor with an unreal ocean view, where it was also safe enough to leave the sliding doors open to go back & forth to the pool. The kitchen had all cooking utensils required to cook my breakfast and lunch (& dinner as well but I went out with friends most nights), and it was VERY spacious. Because I was only 1 person (then 2 as my brother joined me for the 2nd week), I never felt the need to use the dishwasher, but I can confirm there is one! The dining and living room were also quite spacious and comfortable for 2 people to get some minor remote work done. Also, the pullout couch was comfortable enough if anyone would need to use it. The bedroom was so lovely, with its own door to the patio and quite spacious, and I can confirm the bed is VERY comfortable. The bathroom was quite spacious as well, with 2 sinks and a large shower. The only thing I “had issues” with (if you can call it one because it’s minor) was the shower temperature always went from cold to boiling in a matter or seconds, so it took some time to play with it before it was a nice showering temperature. For anyone who is curious - housekeeping for an apartment unit comes M/W/F. So do not throw towels into your laundry bin nightly as your housekeeper may not be coming the next day. The pool itself was quite lovely with great chairs and you could get sun at any angle. I felt like a crazy person because my first week it was as if I was the only person out there (stronger winds)! It was also such a nice temperature and always felt so good after a long walk or just lounging reading a book! The one thing I will say - if you are looking for a true beach experience, this is not the resort for you. It’s more on the rockier side and it’s a bit more difficult to get into. I had water shoes so didn’t mind, but just be mindful of this. HOWEVER, the fantastic shuttle runs Monday - Saturday 10-5pm and so I took it every other day to go into 7 mile and have beach time!! I recommend getting dropped off at the Westin, Palm Heights or Kimpton. The shuttle truly does make a world of difference to get places on island! I do wish it started an hour earlier and tan and hour later (9-6). I found all of the staff so lovely! Victoria at the desk especially was also helpful and very quick to answer any questions. Trina and Kiera were also great through my booking process. The security guard at night (I forget his name) was also the best! I loved the place so much that we booked another 2 weeks in the Fall. You really cannot go wrong with this resort with all it has to offer ☀️🐚🌊🤍…
This is our third stay at this property and we will return. We love the seclusion of this property which is on the north sound. The room was clean and maintenance responded when we called. I do have a few comments: The hallways need to be renovated with brighter lighting and new carpeting or new tile and the rooms need to be exterminated on a regular basis. Being near the water I expect to see some insects. We had several small clear or tan spiders. We were able to control most of them with insect spray. We are hopeful that the dock will be rebuilt and operational before we return. Lastly the hot water pressure in one of the sinks was poor, I shared the other sink with my husband when I needed hot water. We especially were pleased that we were able to take our covid-19 tests to return to the US at the hotel. This was very convenient. The Driftwood restaurant on the property had excellent food which kept us from leaving the property to eat daily. This property is beautiful, relaxing and kept clean.…
Nice location on North Bay. The rooms were well-appointed, and the staff was outstanding and went the extra mile to assist with island-specific details! The restaurant was airy and comfortable and the pool was top-notch.
Did not get a service at service at this hotel ... not welcoming to locals on island. Information was not clear when making the reservation Front desk stated that my family had to supervised as long as i stay there and she could not monitor the front desk and my family too ... pissed and vex of the situation ... not welcoming !!! was being watched as if i was a thief
excellent staff , place & location. few minutes from governors beach . excellent bars & hotels. not far from restaurants, beaches & airport . book a room with kitchen by the ocean. use local currency.
Oveall facility is good but the front desk clerk had a problem with my cc. It declined charges find out the clerk used same authorization numbers twice. Mistakes happen but I didn't receive any apologies from the clark
It was a marvelous stay. Staff is friendly. I loved the room, the food and the calmness around. I want to be back soon at Cayman Islands and to Holiday Inn Resort. By the way lot of the staff are bilingual
Nothing special. Really lacking life. There was no engagement at all apart from check in. The hallway leading to the room was dark and old fashioned. There was also a piece of metal scrub in my wife's Salad.
Excellent value, best on the island for non-1%ers. Friendly staff, rooms and grounds well taken care of. The ocean view is excellent, but you'll need to get in a car to lounge on a sandy beach. I was there for a four month stay and had no complaints.
