At very short notice due to covid requirements, we had to change from a single cottage for 2 families to two cottages with a couple in each one. How lucky were we....Honey Bee Cottage in Warkworth was superb in every single aspect. Beautifully appointed luxurious through-out, superb amenities and located in a quiet though accessible area. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning to the sights and sounds of the Coquet River and beautiful sky views after a supremely relaxing night in the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in. The welcome pack was generous and comprehensive and, no pun intended, very welcome after a long journey. The Christmas Decorations were tasteful and subtle and so un-expected. Even though we were extremely limited as to where we could go due to the infernal Covid, I can honestly it was one of the best short breaks we have ever had. Thank you also to Coquet Cottages for making it all stress free and all the assistance give during such strange and demanding times.…
We stayed here for a week from 28th February. Lost Lobster is a great find, the best of many cottages we have visited in Northumberland. Everything we could possibly need was provided and the property was immaculately clean. Fixtures, fittings and utensils are high quality and the cottage is so comfortable. Two lovely warm bedrooms, one twin and one king size. The lounge is large and comfortable with two gorgeous sofas, log burner and a smart tv. The kitchen, also good sized, had all we needed. The garden is a good size and fully enclosed. Perfect. This cottage felt more like a home than a holiday cottage. It’s location in Embleton is a few minutes walk from two pubs and a small shop for basic provisions. Our favourite pub in the area is The Ship Inn in Low Newton, five minutes drive or half an hours walk over the dunes or along the beach for the best crab sandwiches in the world ... in our opinion. All in all a fabulous cottage, if we could give it more than five stars we would! A credit to its owner and housekeeper. We will return. …
As previous visitors to Warkworth we knew of the location of Piggyback Cottage having passed it on our morning walks before it was converted into the stunning holiday property it is today. Situated on a quiet lane leading down to the riverside walk which meanders into town it also has beautiful views across fields to the castle and out to Coquet Island beyond. The cottage itself is well furnished and equipped for a comfortable stay. The attention to detail is impressive. We made the most of our time in Northumberland and when we returned back to Piggyback Cottage after a full day exploring and walking we felt like we had arrived back at home it just felt right. Carla and David have created a holiday cottage they should be very proud of and we enjoyed it so much we have rebooked, even before this review was written.…
Had a fantastic 4 day break at this lovely property. Everything about the house is quality, really nicely decorated, and it’s just a short walk from a few pubs/restaurants, and near the beach for walks. Located in a peaceful cul de sac. We brought our dog and most places allow well behaved dogs which was great. Coquet Cottages were excellent to deal with and the welcome basket was well stocked for essentials to get you started. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Booked the apartment last minute, as a holiday abroad was cancelled. What a lovely apartment, Great location, facilities and excellent welcome hamper, plus Archie the dog could come with us too. Also really useful local tips from the owner. Coquet cottages seem to be to a very high standard and we look forward to using them again
