The place has gone down hill . The roasts are not any thing special and at 16.50 you would expect much more . The beer was 5.70 which seems a lot . Add 5 pound service and £ 2 donation ? Our bill came to 55 pounds for 2 roasts and 2 drinks. The place seems to be going throug

Having heard on the grapevine that this was a good place to eat, my elderly friend and I called in for lunch. The décor was very nicely done, but the food was a huge disappointment. We both chose the pheasant. A small portion, with very little of the much anticipated sauce. T

Nice sandwiches and light bites but expensive. The place was packed so glad we had made a reservation. Pleasant decor but service on the slow side. Main courses are small for what we paid. The advantage is a big car park

Little pub to stop after a walk around the Downs . Very appetising menu and delicious. Presentation was great , staff very friendly and accepting dogs also . It is more a Gastro-pub . Saying all that , the duck eggs looked more than a hence one and the black pudding was scarce pa

Our friends stayed in what is undeniably a pleasant room but was informed this price did not cover breakfast! The decor is very good in the restaurant too although the bench we sat on for dinner wasn’t the most comfortable for 3 of us. We joined them on Sunday evening for a meal

C'est-y pas raffiné tout ça !?
Food: Gravy? No, brown tasteless water. Was it classed as gravy? Meat: barely. Beef, nearly enough for a thin sandwich. Pork, not even. Veg: oh I thought that was a garnish! Tiny florettes of broccoli, 1 slice of carrot and parsnip. But garnish is meant to be on top, isn't it? Potatoes: boiled...then barely roasted.. Certainly not crispy. Yorkshire: made of powder, cut like powder, tasted of...powder. DRY. Gravy could have helped but... it would have been like trying to soak up a splash of puddle water. Sauces: get 'em ya self, go on, get up, go to the bar and try to attract some service and ask for yourself... Beer selection: limited and poor. No premium. But priced art premium....! Great building, old and new. Nice fire. Young and inexperienced staff, blokes were mostly grubby looking.. not clean looking at all - my opinion, agreed, but they were serving food and drink. To me! My opinion. Also, service charge! Firstly, sly and unacceptable. Secondly, when paying the bill, no question of "how was it?" or "was everything ok". No invitation for feedback. Just didn't care. Still we were glad to pay after 25 minutes without too. Xx
