We stayed 3 nights at the Blue Moon Lodge, and we just loved it. The Lodge is very clean and tidy and the Hosts Shane&Asha are absolutely lovely. No matter what, they are happy to help wherever they can. We also did the Kajak-Tour with Shane and that was great fun. :-) So, thanks a lot again for the great...

Shane and Asha, the owners, made us feel very much at home in our double ensuite room on the first floor of the hostel. They booked the green shell mussel cruise (highly recommended) for us and we also enjoyed an inflatable kayak tour down the Wakamarina River. Shane and Phil were our guides down the river which was an awesome...

If you're looking for a backpacker priced accomodation then BlueMoon Lodge is great. Clean, friendly and in the heart of Havelock. For my husband and I we signed up for the whole package, a night's stay and a kayak trip down the Pelorus River that these guys run. Our goal was to have a break from routine, from the busy...

Nowhere else (yet) have I been invited to join a shared dinner with the owner and other guests before having even paid for the room. Shane and Asha, the owners, make you feel at home in their clean, comfortable and very well equipped hostel. Our double room was tidy, spacious, quiet and sensibly-priced. The kitchen and bathrooms are spick and...

This is a good place in a fantastic location. It has a well equipped, spacious kitchen (with espresso machine) and the room we stayed in was clean and simple although bathrooms and toilets seemed a bit thin on the ground. A sample of the local mussels was cooked up for everyone to try at 6.30pm, local knowledge was freely shared...

Awesomely cheap place to stay. Dorm rooms are only $20, and when the owner said on the phone that would get us the "cheapest and cleanest bed in New Zealand," he wasn't far off the mark. The dorm beds and comfortable, clean, and there wasn't any squeaking at all when anyone moved around. The owner, Shane, is one of the...

I stayed in bluemoon with another couple in blue moon for one night and really enjoyed our stay. Shane the owner is very helpful and kind. The rooms are warm and clean, well worth the price we pay. We also love the glowworms shane told us about and the starry night in Havelock. I would recommend travellers going between blenheim/kaikoura...

Amazing value. We staying in a regular double one night and the double ensuite a second night. Both rooms were clean and bright. We felt like we were in a hotel rather that a backpackers! The hosts were very nice and helpful with arranging charters. The shared bathrooms were clean and modern, the kitchen was always very tidy. Only one...

We stayed in a double room, it was fine, clean - nothing special but did the job. Shared bathroom was clean with a good shower. Host was very friendly and helpful. Only downer was the proximity to the road which large trucks seemed to use. Overall good value for money and would recommend.
