From check-in to check-out; a fabulous stay.
The Boat is set in a picturesque location. The grounds and outer eating areas are tidy, clean and with beautiful greenery.
We were allocated Bedroom (115); beautifully furnished, decorated, spotless and with everything we needed.
The ‘Highland Soap Company’ products in the bathroom are a lovely touch. So much so I bought a little treat for myself from the HSC Aviemore shop.
Food and drink were reasonably priced.
Dean was so helpful. We had a planned evening out with friends on Saturday night and knew we might not make dinner. My husband spoke to Dean and they agreed a deadline for food. When we arrived back at the Inn (just on time) Dean personally brought our fish and chips to our room.
Thanks Dean! Very much appreciated.
Our full English breakfast was ‘okay’. My fried egg yolk was hard. I could have asked for another but it was obvious that restaurant staff were under pressure as they now serve everything from the cold buffet, including our; tea, coffee and toast. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the breakfast staff and all were attentive and professional. I felt to ask for another egg was petty.
Every staff member we met were; polite, helpful and professional. I have to add that it was quite obvious to us that as well as providing great customer service, all are working incredibly hard to ensure Covid social distancing guidelines are adhered to. We also felt there was clear communication with guests which was encouraged both ways to meet our needs. Thanks for that.
The Boat is dog friendly. A bit too ‘dog friendly’ for us as I have a fear of dogs but this wasn't a problem for a one night stay and all are kept on their leads.
A very pleasant stay and in a beautiful location.

Yet another relaxing break based in the Boat. The staff are welcoming and clearly pleased to be back at work. The hotel was busier than we have previously encountered but, in the main, service in the bar and dining room was efficient, followed COVID advice and served up large plates of delicious food. Our room was comfortable, clean and had a decent view. The return to service was all very new and staff coped well. My only observation, is that breakfast could have been slicker. The bar and breakfasting room were in use and efficiency could have been improved if a secondary supply of ‘ cold’ items and sundries had been laid out on the bar thus saving the staff to-ing and fro-ing down the corridor each time. It was early days since restart so this may well have been addressed by now. A bonus for us was the visit of our daughter and her dog who were able to join us for dinner in the dog- friendly bar. Memorably - when Ghillie met Lily! We love our visits to the Boat and won’t hesitate to return.

Booked this hotel as dog friendly.
The staff were all very pleasant and friendly and we received a warm welcome.
Our room was large on the first floor and spotlessly clean. There were nice “The Highland Soap Company” toiletries. The bed was comfy however I did find the pillows a bit lumpy but probably just me been fussy!
We sat outside in the beer garden for drinks and though very busy service was good and as we were lucky with nice weather it was a lovely holiday atmosphere.
We ate in the bar as we were allowed to keep our dog with us as I do not like leaving her in a strange room. Dinner was fine, nothing special, typical “pub grub” but filling. And though I had to return my burger as undercooked this was dealt with in a very polite and professional manner.
Breakfast was good with a great choice and our coffee and juice was topped up when requested.
There is a garden area to walk your dog and there is a dog waste bin. There were a few dogs staying there but all well behaved.
Would definitely stay again when next in the area.

I travel a lot, so for me this hotel is between 'average' and 'very good'. To be very good for me it would have to have had better noise insulation between rooms (I could hear the adjacent room cough/talk), a bit more help in a couple of things I needed, and slightly better food. However, I would go back, but find out if there was a room without adjacent walls, or old thick walls.

The location is excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The front of house are particularly good. They were happy to keep my bike in a safe place. The food I ordered in the evenings was good, but not special. Nothing to complain about and staff were attentive. Room was comfortable, decent overhead lighting, windows which open, good linen, nice decor, lovely modern bathroom, fluffy towels, nice products.
I liked their balance of being Covid safe, with practicality.
There was enough parking.

We had a most comfortable stay at The Boat Hotel, and everything was conducted in a most Covid secure manner. Our garden Room was indeed roomy enough and lovely views from the window (see pic below) the meals were good and plentiful, although at times a little slow.

Overall our stay represented good value for money, with friendly helpful staff

Questions & answers about the rooms

Garden room view is good - large ish lawn and you can see hills in the background. Only problem with these rooms is that they have large patio doors but no window - so if you like a window open for fresh air at night, your are stuck as you can't really risk leaving the door open. No idea on the train, sorry.
