We stayed 3 nights and it was bliss. The views and grounds are beautiful. We had a hexagonal room with spacious patio and amazing views. Room is decorated in a classy way. Bed very comfortable. Nice bathroom. Yummy breakfast - homemade yogurt, pancakes, fresh juices and more. Owner and her family and dog are lovely. Owner very responsive on WhatsApp in the weeks before we arrived. We ordered twice from her restaurant La Finca and the pizza and ceviche were delicious. Pool is beautiful - we were the only ones there so had the whole place to ourselves. It feels secluded but within 30 mins of Tamarindo and restaurants. It was cool in the mornings and evenings so very comfortable. We will definitely visit again.

Web has the pleasure of staying for several days. The room was perfect and private. Coffee and cold drinks are available and the shower of my dreams. Breakfast was delicious and we shared a very special dinner near the pool. I wish that we could have spent more time here. Thank you to Lolo and her family for creating such a wonderful experience!

Mikado is a little gem nestled above the hustle bustle of Tamarindo. The bungalows are chic and comfortable, the bathrooms great, and have wonderful mountainous views. The pool is lovely and Laurence the host is dedicated to your every need. Takes some driving to get to beach/other hotels but we loved the peace and quiet that the location afforded us.

We spent the week after Christmas here with our family and two other families and had an INCREDIBLE time. This lodge is nestled in the mountains south of Tamarindo -- it is off the beaten path in the best way but still within in a 15 minute drive to beautiful beaches and activities. You feel like you are by yourself, cut off from the pressures of the world, in this small resort. There are 8 rooms, all overlooking mountains and jungle, with porches and windows that allow you to read and relax while hearing the sound of the breeze, birds, and the occasional monkey. Laurence and her staff were tuned into our every need -- whether it was arranging a beach BBQ at night, booking a boat, or just having dinner in. Our kids loved frolicking in the pool (while the adults relaxed and chatted and sipped drinks in the open air bar). This a great spot for a solo retreat, or to take over with a group. We had a GREAT time.

We just spent a week at the Mikado with two other families. We took over the whole place (all 6 bungalows) and had a fantastic time. Laurence - who owns the place - has designed a perfect little slice of heaven. The bungalows are newly built but feel incredibly warm and comfortable. The views from all the bungalows feel so special: like you are in treehouse in the jungle. But the bathroom feels like you are in a 4 Seasons hotel - even though you invariably hear the sounds of nearby monkeys playing in the trees. The pool is wonderful. Laurence is extremely knowledgeable and helpful at sorting out excursions and meals, and relaxation. It is off the beaten path, but not far from the magical town of Tamarindo or the beautiful beaches all around.
I highly recommend visiting Costa Rica and staying at The Mikado Natural Lodge.
