We booked a 1 bed apartment which was really spacious. You get a separate bedroom and bathroom with the bedroom being on the end of the building so no noise from adjacent rooms. Full and adequate kitchen. The hotel is a little dated. Staff are all great and very friendly. We were here during the COVID quarantine period so could only use the pool at the next door hotel. However, that is no big deal when you know it is for your own safety. Beach is nice to walk but beware is a steep drop and when we were there the surf was pretty rough. There are bars and restaurants as well as supermarkets in walking distance. Great value for money. As a note, we booked through hotels.com and got a better rate than from the hotel directly.

From the rooms at Coral Mist, you can practically get splashed by the turquoise waves that constantly roll in. The setting is so tranquil and meditative, and the beach is gorgeous and well stocked with beach chairs and umbrellas. The suites are well appointed with comfortable beds and working kitchens. The Coral Mist staff are amazingly warm, welcoming and friendly with delightfully impish senses of humor. Contact Reggie the concierge for anything and everything - he's the man!

This hotel has a lot of plus points. Not least it's situation near a beautiful beach. My wife and I stayed for 14 nights. We booked a deluxe studio. The website show photos of great ocean views from the studio rooms. The description reads
"Very airy and spacious. Overlooking the white sandy beach and deep blue ocean. Private patio"
On arrival, we were allocated a 4th-floor room with a building between our balcony and the sea. (see my photos) We were very disappointed as the one thing we were looking forward to was sitting on a private balcony and taking in the beach and sea. The lift was out of action.
After a fair amount of persistence, the next day we were offered a ground floor room. This was one room away from the bar/restaurant. Problems here included noisy staff at 7 in the morning, shouting and banging stuff around as they prepared breakfasts. Our room, 105, had a very public pato. People walked by all day long, some wanting to talk, others just looking in. The view was poor too.
The room was ok, a bit tired and no one could call the bathroom sparkling clean. The bed was very comfy, fresh towels every day and good wi-fi.
It was lucky we were woken early as it was necessary to claim beach sunbeds and an umbrella as they put out around 7.30 to 8 am. I hated being reduced to such tactics. There were 12 beach umbrellas in total for the two hotels, about 60 rooms.
The beach is lovely and was always clean. The staff are friendly.
The pool is smallish but clean.
Whilst the hotel's situated one an amazing beach the area around is very scruffy with horrendous pavements. My advice is to not leave the hotel on foot in the dark due to the poor pavements. Not only are the pavements uneven and potholed, but in many places, they are very narrow (single file only) and one trip could take you into the very busy road.
If we could be sure of getting a decent room we would stay again, However the hotel will not take bookings for specific rooms. Blue Orchids, the sister hotel will do.
Overall very poor value. We could have stayed at a much better hotel for the price had we not wanted a sea view.

We intially booked a single room at the Blue Orchid Hotel. After arriving, the staff upgraded us to a one bedroom penthouse on the top floor of the adjacent sister hotel - the Coral Mist.

You can't go wrong with either property. The Blue Orchid is a bit further from the street, but it is also a bit further from the water. The Blue Orchid has nice rooms overlooking the water and the garden area below.

The Coral Mist is closer to the street (some street noise, but not a problem at all) but it is also closer to the beach. In fact, it is right on the beach. We have been to dozens of islands in the Pacific and the Caribbean for scuba diving, and this is probably the closest that we have been to crashing surf. We left the windows open at night to fall asleep to the waves closing out on shore. Really relaxing.

The two properties share the pool, restaurant, beach and hotel services. So booking at either property affords you many amenities of the other.

This place has excellent location for two things - scuba diving and restaurants. We dived with two of the closest - Rogers and Barbados Blue. Both are just 5 - 10 minutes away by car and they will pick you up and drop you off after your dives. There are a few other dive shops in the Carlisle Bay area just minutes north of Rogers.

There are many quality restaurants within walking distance of these two hotels. In fact, there are a dozen or so very good restaurants just at the the St. Lawrence Gap (about a 10-12 minute walk along the coast). We did Harlequin there and recommend it. Another, the Dive restaurant is owned by a scuba diver and offers a 10% discount if you show your C Card.

Just across the street is Mojo's. We did lunch there four times because the food was so good. The pulled pork sandwich and fries are perfect after two dives in 79 degree water.

Alternatively, walk in the opposite direction (about 5-10 minutes) to Just Grillin for some good BBQ. There is a food court behind it for some surprisingly good pizza, cold acai bowls, and smoothies.

And for fine dining with exceptional sunsets, ask Reggie, the concierge at the Coral Mist, to get you reservations at either Champers or Naru. Champers is 2 minute walk. Naru is about 10-15 minutes along the beach boardwalk and street.

The staff at these hotels are well trained and very professional. Sharon, our maid was very accomodating and friendly. Reggie, the concierge at the front desk at Coral Mist works his magic for restaurant reservations. Kudos to both.

We booked this trip via virgin and didn’t know if we would be allocated coral mist hotel or blue orchids hotel. Both hotels are adjoined and facilities are shared. The beach is in front of coral mist hotel. Previous reviews have said that there is no problem with sunbeds, they are plentiful and the beach man will always find you a chair. This is not our experience. All beds are reserved by 830 in the morning. Some people don’t arrive until lunchtime, despite Notices saying that towels will be removed after 20 minutes of no use. The man on the beach only appears at 8:00 to put the beds out and then at 5:30 to tell you to get off the bed because he’s putting them away. There are other beds around the properties, some in the trees, but those around the pool have no shade and no parasols.

This is a shame because this hotel is in a good location, has good kitchen facilities in each room and is comfortable. Yes, it is tired, but it does what it says on the tin.

Questions & answers about the rooms

Answer from Ahbutz

We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite In January 2020. I think it was a Penthouse Suite. It was on the third floor. And at the very end of the building on the south side. Fantastic. The living room had windows out to the open ocean on one side and out the beach on the other side. The bedroom was even larger than the living room and had wall to wall glass giving an ocean view. Both bedroom and living room had doors out to a spacious patio overlooking the beach and ocean. The third floor is great - less noise (almost non-existent) but you do have to climb stairs. And being at the end, you had no neighbors. This hotel is really great. One of our best experiences scuba diving in the Caribbean. Highly recommended.

Yeah I would ask for a put up bed. We had thee adults in the studio and it was fine. We didn’t see the one beds but my sister had a two bed and that was very roomy with the living area equal in size to the two bedrooms.
