As my wife and I cannot travel far due to the pandemic restrictions, we thought to take a short 'Michelin rosette' tour of the Lot and Dordogne. This hotel was charming. The staff were very helpful and attentive. They even checked our onward bookings. Full marks. We were given an upgrade to a well furnished apartment. I guess that because of the current pandemic they wish to showcase their offerings.
We had dinner in the main restaurant, and accompanied the meal with their choice of wines. Normally I prefer to choose my own - but I found the choice excellent.
Dinner was very good, and certainly in line with what I would expect at a Michelin 1 rosette table.
However, with the exception of one young man, the service was indifferent. The waiter twice leaned across my wife to serve, in spite of there being enough room to go behind. Twice my plate was served before hers. One course arrived for us both while she was still eating the previous one - and left to the side. When I protested, the waiter blamed this arrival on the chef. The course was actually a cold dish..
However - apart from these issues, I will go back, and will certainly take dinner there again..
The 'Service' rating below should really by 'Excellent' for the Hotel staff, and 'Indifferent' for the restaurant.
We stayed 3 nights in a wonderfully cozy room, the service could not have been better. Absolutely outstanding breakfast with homemade ingredients and the nicest staff you can imagine. Thank you all, we come back. Probably the nicest and best Hotel in the Dordogne.
My wife and I spent 4 nights at Le Vieux Logis. Our guest room was lovely, albeit small. The attitude and support of all the staff (particularly Estelle Lepers and the front desk personnel) in addition to the incredible dinners, were what made this a place where we hope to return. This is a great place to stay to explore the Dordogne region.
The hotel room was a little rustic, however it had all the amenities required and was very quiet. The hotel itself is set in beautifully maintained gardens and aperitifs sitting outside was a lovely way to to spend a summer evening, having had a long drive from the Ile de Rey. Dinner was also a very civilised affair with both the food and wine being of a good standard. Staff across the hotel were very friendly and efficient.
A lovely place to stop off in the Dordogne.
The Vieux Logis must be one of the loveliest places to spend some time, particularly for a Summer break.
We were in a beautiful suite that opened onto the gardens, very, very comfortable indeed. We noticed that the bathroom had been refurbed and functioned very well.
There is always a lovely welcome and we were made to feel like guess at a house party rather than staying at a hotel.
The grounds and pool are all beautiful and the staffing and levels of service are immaculate.
A superb restaurant and perhaps the world's best breakfast? Really.
As I said, we love it there.
