We ended up in this small town by chance and walked into Bila Ruze after we couldn't find accommodation elsewhere. I'm so glad we ended up here, especially after having seen rooms at a few of the town's other hotels. Although the hotel looks a bit tired from the outside, there is nothing wrong with it. The rooms are large and even though there is no a/c the windows open completely so you can get breeze in the room (important in early August!). The bed was comfy and the bathroom well sized and equipped. Our room looked out onto the square but was not noisy (I don't think Strakonice is a super late night kind of town!). Breakfast was good, eggs, continental breakfast choices. Staff was helpful and pleasant (especially the girl working the night shift; I've forgotten her name but she spoke good English and was very helpful. The morning girl too!). Although the carpets in the hall are a bit tired the decorations on the hall ceilings etc are just lovely. The hotel is centrally located to visit the castle, the bagpipe statue and/or to access the main roads in and out of town. A fine stay and I'd return if I'm ever back in Strakonice.
