This is the kind of hotel that has been refurbished over the years with a little upgrade here and a little upgrade there. All in all, it was a fantastic place to stay with an incredible staff.
I was impressed that the outlets in the room were set up for a business traveler with usb and electric outlets galore. Kurig was a great touch. I got a lot of work done in this room to be sure.
Parking is very easy. The staff was just amazingly cordial. The bagged up breakfasts were more than adequate.
Two tiny complaints: the phone does not indicate a way to call the front desk. I had to call into the hotel to reach them. Secondly, there is no nightlight to the bathroom. Normally leaving the light on in the bathroom and then proping it open works, but here the door closes automatically. I needed to use a trash can to prop it open.
The room was very clean as well and I felt safe there. Great job!
The room was modern enough and ample in size. The bed was massive and comfy.
Self-service Breakfast was tasty and had a good choice.
Really handy location, close to the Union Street subway station. You're in Manhattan very quickly from here.
Staff were friendly and helpful too.
Would definitely stay here again when visiting from the UK.
Good value as well.
We stayed here for 2 nights on the final days of our American road trip before flying back to the UK.
The room was lovely, it was small but was to be expected in New York. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom and especially shower was very nice. The beds were comfortable and we had a nice view of Brooklyn.
The location for us was excellent, we stayed in Brooklyn before when we came to New York and loved it because the prices to stay in central New York are ridiculous, plus sometimes its nice to get away from the hustle and bustle. It was a 2 minute walk from the subway and about 30 minutes direct on the subway to the centre of the action.
Breakfast was good quality and included in our stay which was good.
We didn't have much to do with the staff apart from check in and check out, but they seemed pleasant enough.
I have nothing negative to say about his hotel it was perfect for our stay and I would definitely stay here again.
Booked as part of a package deal with British Airways, chose as wanted to be close to friends we were visiting.
Upon arrival , told that no IHG points etc as not booked through their website and was placed in the basement.
Once we had completed the obstacle course of laundry carts we noticed a very strong smell of cannabis coming from the room next door. We would have complained but after travelling for 10 hours plus we just wanted to bed down for the night.
Smell had gone the next morning , but paper thin walls and noisy people in other rooms was another thing.
Breakfast was very basic, but it was free. Few places near the hotel where you could grab a bagel etc.
Housekeeping almost none-existant. Towels changed a couple of times , but the rubbish bin in the bedroom never emptied and by end of stay we had accumulated quite a pile.
Positives: next to Union Street subway on the R line , so downtown manhattan about 20 minutes away , free luggage storage.
Would you stay here again: NO
What I would have expected for HIE.
If you are looking for something similar to the UK this is not in the same league as most UK ones but we did feel safe here and with many NYC hotels being very expensive this was the best for our budget.
Basic room but with the biggest air conditioning unit strapped to the wall right in front of the window. Unable to see out as the view was obscured so didn’t bother to open the curtains but would have found it claustrophobic if had had to stay in the room during the day. But as we used the room as a base only it didn’t matter.
Staff were happy to look after our cases as we arrived early and on our last day we left them after checking out collecting them at the end of the day to fly home.
We had emailed them before travelling about leaving our cases before and at the end of our stay and they were very quick to respond to us. So it was good to know we could do this before we arrived.
The room was clean but the bathroom door squeaked terribly and had to be propped open to stop it banging. We had a box of race tissues in the bathroom at the start of our stay but with only a few in the box they went quickly and were not replenished.
The room had a coffee machine which took pods. No kettle so we were not able to just boil some water to utilise our pre bought hot chocolate sachets.
Breakfast had a reasonable range of items lots of cakes and a pancake machine. It would have been nice to have had a bowl of freshly cut fruit but we only had a choice of bananas or apples. The hot choice for vegetarians was limited as on offer was a veggie omelette or a cheese omelette. Some baked beans or hash browns would have been nice. Despite this there was enough to eat.
Staff were always pleasant and offered us water each day which was much appreciated. This was one of the things that helped us have an enjoyable stay.
As an extra plus this hotel is situated very close to the local Metro so makes travelling uptown really easy!
