The hotel is in the middle of a remodel. Whomever is in charge of the remodel room design should be fired. The bathroom is a disaster the shower leaks everywhere. The vanity is cheap and useless. The absolute silliest part of the remodel is the lack of plugs. They installed lights with no plugs, zero! We had to unplug the coffee maker to plug in our phones. Someone needs to go back through the remodeled rooms and see how silly it is.
At 8:30 PM the night before an early morning flight to take my daughter to college I got a call from Matthew Filkins, the hotel operations supervisor, saying that our room was no longer available for the 1st night of our stay. He offered to reserve us a room at a nearby hotel with abysmal reviews that showed photographs of people with bed bug bites! I spent the entire evening until 2 AM trying to find another hotel during the busy school move-in week and pleading for help from Marriott's corporate office -- to no avail. Finally, in the morning on the way to the airport in a taxi stuffed with duffel bags I made one last call to the hotel. I asked to speak to the top manager and he said he had a room for us.
What can I say. It was an appalling experience. We now stay at the Doubletree in Newark, OH. The customer service there is fabulous!
I don't know maybe I expect more from the name Marriott. This place is no better then a Hampton or Best Western. Check in was slow, as only one person on the desk. Room had a small patio but traffic noise was so loud you didn't want to sit out on a nice evening. Just an average motel room
This is a very typical Courtyard, or what a Courtyard should be. Clean, comfy beds, a little modern updates, etc. Pool looked small but didn't really have time to try it. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the McD's drive thru and front of the hotel and stayed surprisingly quiet at night.
Small problem right after check in, I went looking behind the couch for a place to plug in my phone and found a LOT of beer cans. Housekeeping came up right away and cleared them up and sprayed some freshener to be safe. We were given two breakfast vouchers for the two days we were there. As we were there for a wedding, one day wasn't used as I in the wedding party and had to be at hair very early. Hubby went out with the guys not in the wedding but in the family. We did use it the second day and the gentleman that waited on us was very nice and friendly. A woman came out to help or answer a question that could have used more patience but I've seen worse.
If I ever visit my sister's inlaws in that area again, I'll be sure to stay here again. I gave it a 4 because there was nothing special that made it stand out from how it should be. But still a very good hotel, just not excellent.
Housekeeper Alison left us a nice note thanking us for staying and wishing us safe travels. This was "above and beyond" in my opinion. Other housekeepers went out of their was to make Eye contact and greet us.
We left early one morning an caught a guy (maybe from the desk) dancing in the lobby. He said " You can see what kind of day I am having." Room was spotless
