Beautiful website view of hotel is deceiving. We had view of Walmart and construction. One elevator for three floors. The elevator had no door delay so you could not stop the door from shutting, frustrating guests. I just took the stairs rather than wait for the elevator. Room was set for 60 degrees upon entry. Freezing. The toliet strugged to work, this is a neglected area in all hotels. The pool was a bit dirty and needed to be shocked, as there was green algae evident. We get the whole no hot breakfast covid thing, but 3 muffins left, a couple of oranges and oatmeal packets was all that was left in the morning, 15 minutes before breakfast was to end. No help in sight. You're paying for a hot breakfast, so either offer a voucher for a free breakfast sandwich at a local restaurant, or have guests fill out a breakfast selection sheet when they check in, then have the bag ready when they check out. Just need to try harder.

We first stayed here back in 2015 and realized what a great place this is and wondered if it had held up well. It is still just as good 4 years later! Everything is immaculately clean, the employees are exemplary, the breakfast is definitely above average for these type of breakfasts (attendant is very conscientious), and the location is fantastic for exploring the mountains of Western NC. Sylva is a gorgeous town surrounded by tall mountains, but isn't at all touristy so if you need to go to Walgreens or Walmart or eat fast food to save some money for one meal, it's all there. No crowds. The price of this hotel is very reasonable for the quality. The beds are comfortable, there's pillows of various firmness and we had a lovely view from our room (not directly, but off to the side, so don't over expect. Still awesome when the fog clears out). My husband enjoyed the pool. The lobby is very large and lovely and there are comfortable places to sit outside near the pool and the lobby, which is great for my husband the early bird to go read or wait for me the sleepy head to wake up. Our king room had a very comfortable chair and ottoman with a nice reading lamp. Frig in the room (didn't have a freezer) which is always handy. We will continue to make this a place we stay on our visits to the mountains. It's easy to get to all our favorite Western NC destinations while staying here. One day we went south on the Blue Ridge Parkway; the next day we went North. We enjoy Franklin, Waynesville, the Smoky Mountains NP....all are an easy quick drive. To us it's always seemed quiet. Our only complaint was that the rooms (our first room was too far from the elevator, I had an ankle injury and requested a room close to elevator so we changed) had a slighly weird smell and somehow the room seemed a little damp/humid? It didn't stop us from enjoying the room and I'm not exactly sure why this was so. We were only in the room to sleep so we didn't bother to ask or complain about it as it wasn't a major problem for us. Maybe we didn't have the a/c set properly (by the way the a/c worked great).

The hotel was very clean and clerks were helpful with information about the area. The worst thing that happened is we were ready to relax in the evening and the TV wouldn't work. A desk clerk came to help and still couldn't fix it. So he brought a new TV! That was real customer service. The breakfast was great but the pool was small. Its on a hill so the scenery from the place was beautiful.

Beautiful, large clean rooms. A spacious handsome lobby and dining area. Excellent coffee and breakfast with plenty of seating and pleasant views. A nice pool with views of the mountains. In a great location just outside of town on a quiet hilltop. Very well-maintained!

Decent selection for breakfast
Very Comfy beds and pillows
Pool was down and so was washing machine which was a dissapointment as we had quite a load to take care of.
Quiet facility and easy to get to. All room needs met.
