Stayed overnight only. Staff are great, but it took me 3 different attempts to get my $25 rewards cards applied to my bill. It must be a new thing, because speaking to the manager was the only way to get it done.
The location is beautiful, but our room on the River Wing was nasty and everything was broken. Within 5 minutes, the carpet left our feet charcoal black and when I checked the air filters, huge mounds of dust and debris flew out at me. I cleaned them.
I made the mistake of unpacking because then I found the TV wouldn't turn on. It finally dawned on me to check the connection which had been unplugged. The remote still did not work and neither did most of the plugs/lights in the room (or the clock). We had one outlet to charge everybody's electronics and I was the designated channel changer.
I wanted to change rooms, but we had a 1pm boat cruise with Capt. Mike's downstairs we had to get to. It was great! Be sure to ask for Capt. Sean! Coming back in we stopped at the pool, which was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Broken pavers, uneven ground and a broken ladder on the deep end. Bring towels with you because there are none.
We got back inside only to find the internet didn't work very well and kept dropping us. Luckily I had a hot spot. We ate food that we brought, but there is a decent restaurant (Crackers) right next door overlooking the water. I must say the fridge/freezer in the room was the best I have ever had in a hotel. Very spacious and actually kept items frozen.
Getting into bed, I found a huge tear in my sheet, which I ended up getting caught in all night long. I woke up to a broken coffee maker and as any coffee drinker knows, that's just not acceptable!
I spoke to the agent at check-out and she said they are aware of the filthy carpets and new tiles were going to be put down. I would def wait until they are before getting a room there again. Outside of the carpets and air vents, the room was clean...so that's not on the maid service. I chalked it up to staff shortage in maintenance...but the nastiness of the carpets leaves me warning you...DO NOT STAY HERE!
The Best Western is a great stay for Crystal River. We stayed in the River wing and were right by the pool and a lovely area on the water. We were also right next to a great restaurant with many options, outdoor seating and tiki bar. The room was comfortable and clean. The multiple breakfast options were really great as most hotels only offer one choice.
We needed a place that was reasonably priced, clean and hopefully, off the main road. Also, I wanted two beds per room so no one had to share a bed. This was ideal. Two double beds per room and rooms attached to allow easy communication. The rooms were recently refurbished, up-to-date, clean and very reasonably priced. And it had a nice pool area and the whole place fronts on the river! An one minute walk along the waterfront sidewalk brings you to Crackers restaurant. Ice Cream shops and other restaurants less than a 5 minute walk.
Stayed at BW Crystal River with 3 grandchildren for Spring Break for a week. The hotel is located close to everything in Crystal River on Hwy 19. It is directly on Kings Bay so there is a great water view from the pool. We stayed in River Wing. The room was nice. Please note that due to Covid housekeeping services are limited to trash pickup and replacing towels unless other services are specifically requested. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room which was nice to have. Check-in was easy with friendly staff. The kids enjoyed the pool which overlooks the marina and Kings Bay. Each day seemed to follow similar pattern. Families did their main activity for the day, then returned to the hotel around 3pm and came to the pool for the remainder of the day. There were always a lot of kids (thankfully) to play with for the grandkids. Everyone was very friendly. The Crystal River vacation crowd seems very different than the Disney or Theme Park crowd. Everyone was laid back and just relaxing, enjoying themselves and family. Lots of people took advantage of the picnic tables and gas grill available by the pool to make dinners and eat outside. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was also included but you had to choose an "option" due to Covid. They still has really good waffles. One things the kids enjoyed was watching the fishermen on the dock feeding the pelicans when they were cleaning their fish. There is a Manatee Tour company right in the hotel (Captain Jacks) and several others nearby if they are all booked. You can also rent kayaks nearby (we used Paddles) to see manatees. Overall, this was a great place to stay, relax, and enjoy all that Crystal River has to offer at a great price.
A great hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms we're clean and comfortable . We enjoyed the river walk and the pool area. If you're in the area, this is a great choice. Definitely book ahead of time.
