Stayed for 3 nights. Most impressed with the staff who were all very polite and friendly. The rooms were clean and the food in the restaurant, cafe and bar excellent. The choice at breakfast could perhaps be improved a bit but what we had was good.
My gel nails chipped pretty quickly - within 3/4 days of application but the massage was good.
The leisure facilities are also fab - for a small gym you get what you need in terms of equipment.

We were two couples and had a two bedroom luxury apartment on ground floor. Everything was of the highest standard from the underfloor heating to the sauna in the ensuite. Even although the weather was very wet it did not stop us from enjoying the facilities of the complex.
Be aware that swimming access is included but you have to pay an entrance fee for the gym.

Dear hazelrg, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review, we are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time with us. Sorry if the gym price was miscommunicated with you, however residential guests should get complimentary access to the gym and Leisure Experience, there is only an upgrade cost for the Spa Experience. We do hope to see you again in the future. Team Portavadie

The drive to Portavadie is a thing of beauty, and Portavadie itself is in such a stunning location with beautiful views.
The spa experience was good, lots to enjoy and the outdoor pool in the cold winter was a treat. The gym was also well equipped and immaculate.
We stayed in what was called a "Lodge Superior" room which was very misleading. You're effectively in a standard hotel room, but before you arrive you're led to believe this is something like an individual lodge all to yourself. The room itself was very mixed - the bed was comfy, and they just about got away with the minimalist design but the coffee making facilities was very poor and something you would expect in a budget hotel. For the price you pay and how Portavadie market this as a luxury experience, a Nespresso machine or similar should be there. No bath robes was disappointing as you could of sat on the terrace in one in the morning.
The food in the Marina restaurant was good, but the "Vegan Menu" was extremely poor ... £13 for spaghetting and tomato sauce. No vegan or veggie options at breakfast either which was disappointing for a place of apparent high standards.
Service was friendly but nothing memorable.

Second visit to Portavadie staying in a lodge room on a couples break. Room spotless and well appointed with fabulous views. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was excellent. Leisure and spa facilities excellent, the gym has good equipment and is very clean and tidy. The only thing I can fault about our whole stay is not having any loungers to recline and relax on by the poolside. Only tables and chairs, but lying on a lounger taking in that view would be fantastic!

We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The weather was great for October that certainly helped. The swimming pool and gym is great. The infinity pool has to be one of the best in the world, the view is spectacular. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening, good food £75 for two without drinks. On the second night we ate in Thyme and Tide in the nearby town which was slightly better. Breakfast was a good hotel standard, buffet hot and cold, but no kippers or smoked salmon which was surprising for Scotland. The nearby beach and wood was great and deserted.
