Mairin is an amazing host, so kind and caring.
We arrived early, after a long over night trip. She gave us access to our room so we could freshen up. Even though the room was not ready it was super clean, beautifully furnished and fresh towels appeared as if by magic for us.
Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and plentiful.
If you are visiting the area I would recommend staying in a heartbeat.

Our Sierra Club group stay at this wonderful B&B for three nights. My roomate and I were lucky to be given the apartment that was fully equiped and very large. Our hostess Mairin was very generous by letting us know to use anything we find in the suite. We had a cocktail gathering and were able to relax in comfort with a large group. She is a wonderful hostess and was very accomodating for breakfasts. Whatever we wanted was made to order and served beautifully. The gardens surrounding the inn were just gorgeous and well maintained. I would highly recommend staying at the Drom Caoin, I certainly will if I am able to travel to Belmullet again.

Located only 1.5 hrs from Knock West airport, Belmullet sits at the gateway to all that north Mayo has to offer, especially for the outdoorsy traveller. Drom Caoin is just outside the town centre, with stunning views over the nearby hills, the bay and the Belmullet peninsula (a geologist's heaven). From the start you get the warmest of welcomes from the Murphys, including tea and cake, as well as recommendations on places to eat, things to see and how to pronounce the trickier place names - particularly helpful when force 8 gales made field work too dangerous. The bed was comfy, the room pleasantly warm, the internet speedy (especially for the west coast) and the morning breakfast will easily sustain you until lunch (or beyond). A particular plus to me was the ability to leave the car and walk into town for dinner, stroll along the sea front or visit the local shops (including a convenience store, an ATM and a post office; petrol/diesel are available either side of town). Once back, comfortable couches, television and books await in the sitting room with large picture windows and a warming fire. I will certainly be staying again if I'm back in the area.

We arrived on Friday to a fabulous welcome from Mairín .Our room had a great sea view and our friends had an apartment which was brilliant as we were on a walking weekend and we were able to make our sandwiches and fill flasks etc. The breakfasts were so tasty and made to order. We spent three wonderful days exploring the surrounding countryside bathed in glorious sunshine. We met people from Japan and Netherlands and Gerry was kept busy ferrying them to buses etc .They were exception hosts and we would definitely return to stay in Drom Caoin.
