Since we didn´t want to stay in a soulless Hotel in downtown Halifax, I was happy to find The Pebble B&B in a wonderful neighbourhood just a few minutes outside the center. The house is charming, as is its owner Elizabeth who welcomed us warmly - although she had to stay up until late at night. We were worn after 15 hours of travelling and she prepared some cheese and grapes for a midnight snack - very thoughtful! The room (Armview Suite) is spacious and comfortable and comes with a view of the bay. Molton Brown amenities in the bathroom which are usually only found in 5 star hotels and tasty home-cooked breakfast in the morning - what else can you wish for? The service Elizabeth provided was outstanding. If we ever come back to Halifax, we would most certainly return to this excellent B&B!

My mom and I drove across Canada from Victoria to Halifax staying in B & B's, hotels and Air BnB's. By the time we arrived at The Pebble we were tired and fairly disappointed with some of the places we had come across. The Pebble was an instant pick-me-up. Our room (The Pebble suit) was beautiful. The bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. We've already booked our return. Our dog, Dash, was a welcome guest and Elizabeth provided us with all the information we needed to get the best out of our stay in Halifax. Better than any hotel. Highly recommend.

This was our first visit to Halifax since our daughter and her little family (2 year old granddaughter and husband) moved there from New York in June. We tried to book a hotel downtown, but they were oversold with a G7 meeting. The next alternative was an Inn, and the Pebble looked like the best. We tend to like being downtown so we don't need to rent a car, and we (mostly I) are not particularly fond of staying in places were we need to be social. Still, this was the best alternative and the pictures looked lovely.

As we arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the pictures were actually true to the reality. The room was as lovely as described and pictured. It became our oasis. The linens were all first rate, and the attention to detail was impeccable.

Our hostess was really personable and once I got used to her style, ended up finding a real affinity. It turned out I loved the conversations with the other guests, the fact that I could used the microwave to heat my bean bag (a must for my weary body), and make my cup of tea when afternoon came around and I needed a break.

Having a car allowed us to explore restaurants in many parts of town and zip up to Dartmouth, where our daughter lives, in no time.

The Pebble is a gem. We are sure to go back....

The only issue with staying at The Pebble is you just won't want to leave! Liz is a gracious host & opens up her beautiful home with a heart & a half. Our bedroom was a haven after long days exploring Halifax; from the marshmallow-soft pillows & crisp linens to the deep bath tub, with its Brown toiletries. Breakfast was so generous that we often skipped lunch: over our stay we devoured everything from warm apple souffle straight from the oven to fluffy scrambled eggs with roast tomatoes & toasted crumpets. But what we most enjoyed were our chats with Liz & our fellow guests. The Pebble offers all the luxury of a 5 star boutique hotel; but all the warmth & personality of a stay with a good friend. We would not hesitate to recommend it highly enough; especially to visitors from Ireland, as Liz is also a very proud Kerry woman with some enviable literary connections! My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at The Pebble in a lovely part of Halifax overlooking the North West Arm of the Harbour. Our host, Liz Carroll, was just wonderful. She made us feel really at home and nothing was too much trouble if it would make our stay more enjoyable.
The house is beautifully kept with attention to detail and good taste is exhibited everywhere. Lovely artwork, pottery, furnishings and all is spotlessly clean and in good condition.

Our bedroom was upstairs with a small terrace, a large bathroom containing a spa bath, separate open shower, toiletries supplied ( Molson Brown) and a good size comfortable bed. The room was well appointed and comfortable including a TV but we did not use it.....far too much to do, see and eat in Halifax. The downstairs lounge room was very comfortable, lit by candles and just great to relax there with a book and a glass of port (suppled by Liz) before collapsing for the night.

Breakfast was excellent with fresh made 'Pebble' coffee, and different styles of delicious food to enjoy. Liz is a good cook and is happy to modify the breakfast to cater for specific dietary requests, but needs to know what you want.

As if that wasn't enough, Liz is a mine of information and helpful tips about enjoying Halifax and beyond.....we have taken up her recommendations and they have all been excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay in Halifax, enhanced by staying at The Pebble, and meeting with Liz, and other like minded travellers......The Pebble is great but the people make it even better, and our host Liz does a great job.
