We were travelling from UK to Spain and had not booked anywhere to stay as decided to drive overnight. We decided to stop as had become tired but not booked anywhere in advance. Took a chance and came off the motorway hoping to find a hotel and found the Colombiere. Very nice receptionist who had a room for us and our dog! Room was fine, very clean although could do with an update on furniture as a bit shabby but this could have been because it was a "pet friendly" room. Nice and quiet, did not see the grounds as very dark but in the morning when I walked the dog I saw a beautiful garden with a stream behind the hotel, lovely patio area where people could have breakfast. Would definitely return and recommend the hotel, not sure about the food as we did not have time to eat there. We had worried that we could not get a room due to having a large dog with us but this was not a problem at all! Highly recommended!
This very pleasant hotel is situated on the Avenue du General de Gaulle on the D909 and NOT on the Route de Clermont-Ferrand as suggested on Trip Adviser. It is however surrounded by stunning scenery and is on a quiet road.
We were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who, realising that we were English spoke slowly in French for us and attempted a little English himself.
Our room was clean and comfortable however the bed was a little hard for our liking so we did not get a particularly good nights sleep.
For 60€ this was very good value and I recommend it for a short stopover.
This hotel is a well placed stop-over. We arrived at 1.30 only to find a notice on the wall stating that booking in could only commence at 4.30. The hotel doors were locked. So we spent nearly 3 hours walking up and down to the town; got caught in a sudden cloud-burst but took shelter in a deserted building. When we finally managed to enter the hotel we were quite pleased with our room which looked out over the field at the rear of the hotel. We had booked our dinner on-line with them but had no acknowledgement from them so as far as we knew, the dining room was closed. The staff didn't seem very interested in asking us if we wanted a meal there. The hotel is conveniently places on a fairly quiet road about 15 minutes walk from the town. I'm not sure how anyone could award this hotel 5* but we would use it again if we arrived after 4.30.
Great location, just literally 5 mins drive, if that, as you pull off the motorway A75. Nice welcoming hotelier, we also emailed to say a family and so was given an interconnecting room which is a great touch. Rooms were very clean and a good size - specially for the cost, we was pleasantly surprised. Could not hear the motorway at all, had shutters to have a good night sleep. The car park was secure, and directly outside the hotel. We was too late for dinner, but the town was a stone throw away and we found a lovely Crepe restaurant that will be a topic of our family for a long time. The breakfast was plentiful and varied, excellent for all different tastes, the family were attentive and could not do enough to make you feel welcome. The town is beautiful, will return another day just to spend more time sightseeing. The only two negative points was there was only a pillow each, by the time I hit my head on the pillow after a day of driving I could not be bothered to request more, but all of us had an issue with this. The other is that there could have been tea/coffee facility or at least some water. But that said, it was such a budget price.
This hotel is just off the A75/E11 so ideal for stop over on way back from Spain. It was reasonable priced. Nice ground floor room with bath,no kettle in room just machine by reception area.
Plenty of free off road parking and in a nice quiet spot just 5 mins back to the A75 motorway.
Not opened till after 4.30pm, so not so bad, we just went for a ride into small village( Town) while we waited . There were plenty of people there when we got back for 5.00pm.
Will stop there again.
