PHL is our airport of choice... and like the early flights to our stateside destinations. So... we start our travels a day early by spending the night at PHL and sightseeing and dining in Philly proper. Also, we like to celebrate special occasions there. Although we live equal distance from DC, Baltimore and Philly... we prefer Philly because it's much easier (at least for us) to get in and around the city.

Hokie67's City Tips

  • If you're set on staying at a chain hotel, check the internet for specials, then call the property and ask if there any special deals. Chances are you'l save some money.
  • If you're driving into the city, park at a central location and walk or take public transportation around town.
  • I always try to get a Streetwise laminated map when we visit major cities. The Philly map is one of the best as it has both the transit and bus routes.

This is foodie heaven all the way. If you're finicky about getting jostled by the wait staff and having your neighbors sitting on top of you... find another place. All the food looks great... and here is the place to take an adventure. Book a reservation early... or take your chances for a seat at the counter.
