Tim A's City Tips

  • When you're exploring any of the parks, keep an eye on the time of day, as many parks close at dusk, rather than at a specific time.
  • Always make sure to dress for whatever the activity is that you're doing, and carry plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
  • The best way to get around Pigeon Forge is by car.

    Tim A Says:

One of Pigeon Forge's prime attractions, Dollywood makes for a fun day of adventure and fun. Named for and founded by Dolly Parton, the country music diva known for her big hair (and bigger bosom), this amusement park features tons of Appalachian-themed fun, from the Mystery Mine roller to a steam locomotive. There is also, of course, plenty of Dolly Parton memorabilia to be found here!

Dolly Parton is known for big and bold, so it makes sense that one theme park wouldn't be enough for the country music icon. That's why she's added a water park to her Dollywood empire. Splash Country features more than 25 splashy slides and rides, plus children's playground areas to ensure the whole family can have fun in the sun here. Cutting-edge technology also allows you to plan your itinerary online, reserve a place in line at the most popular rides, and wear a 'smart' bracelet instead of carrying cash to pay for purchases.

    • Dollywood's Splash Country offers locker rentals for a small fee.
    • Be sure to take kids by the park’s Centralized Measuring station (at the Splash & Dash Sundries) to receive a color-coded wristband that will quickly identify which rides kids are tall enough to ride.
    • Book lodging at one of the Dollywood cabins and you get a "Length of Stay Pass" for the price of one-day admission.
