TAMarketingSolutions's City Tips

  • When eating out government tax and service charge is included as standard in most places. Tipping is not required, it is at your own discretion.
  • Indonesia is a Muslim nation, so suitable clothing is required at cultural spots around the island. Do try to also be respectful of the culture and cover up when walking around.
  • Arrival to Lombok is by boat or air. Flying is generally recommended as it is tends to be the quickest and cheapest.
  • Getting around Lombok is pretty easy. The roads are perfect for motorbike cruising, or if you'd prefer the comfort of aircon and a local guide, you can hire a driver and car.
  • Lombok is rich in beaches and quiet spots. It's a great place to explore and get a little bit lost. If you do, there's always a local who will point you in the right direction.

    TAMarketingSolutions Says:

Mount Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia and is still active today. The most popular activity is to ascend to the summit which takes around 3 days at least, or to make it up to the crater lake which is about 2 days worth of trekking.

    • Thrill Seeker
    • Nature Lover
    Tips
    • Make sure you have a good experienced guide and are fit and equipped well for the climb - it can get cold and rainy at times, but the views are quite spectacular.
    • There are other walks in Rinjani National Park which are less strenuous but no less scenic that can be taken in this area as well if you rather not go all the way to the top
    • The dry season from April to November is the best time to climb Mount Rinjani

Around Rinjani there are a whole bunch of waterfalls to explore. A stay in Tetebatu offers the perfect place to do this from. My favourites are Jukut, Benang Stokel and Tibu Topat where there's a sunlit pool for swimming.

    Tips
    • If you're staying in Tetebatu, ask at the guesthouse, they can arrange transport for you for a very resonable fee.
    • It can still be a bit cool at the waterfalls, so if you feel the cold, make sure you take long sleeves.
    • The easiest waterfall to get to from Tetebatu is Jukut. A short trek through the ricefields and forest and you're there. A super relaxing way to spend a morning.
