This is where Eamon De Valera, Charles Stewart Parnell, Robert Emmett, James Connonlly etc have been emprisonned for planning the Easter Rising (Irish Revolution). The way the jail is built (see photo above), like an oval, is for the prisoners to keep on eye on themselves, isn't that brilliant? O'Connell street is the main avenue in Dublin City. You will find the statues of 3 big men involved in Irish History: Daniel O'Connell (the street was named after him), Jim Larkin, and Charles Stewart Parnell near the Ambassador building. In the middle you will see a kind of "needle", which locals call the "Spire". Before that was "Nelson's pillar" which was destroyed by Irish republicans in 1966.

Molly is the emblem of Dublin City. There is a song, made famous by Irish band "The Dubliners" called Molly Malone, and tells about the story about this poor girl wandering about the streets of Dublin, selling crackles and mussels. Ask a local if she existed or not, and they won't be able to tell. Between Legend and Reality, like most things in Ireland :)
