Batoche National Historic Site Questions & Answers

vancouver BC

Hi,

I will be in Saskatoon for a conference and plan to visit the Batoche NHS on Sept 23, 2016. I have the day free

-- just need to be back in Saskatoon by 5. How long should I schedule at Batoche for a leisurely visit? Are there any other nearby sites (Fish Creek NHSC, Duck Lake) worth visiting? What exactly is Middleton's camp? Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Middleton camp is were the NWMP fought not much there there are some markers to read and you can still see the gun pits were they were dug in not much to see there..

Fort Carlton is better to see there is a Fort there and they have a person to tell about that time.... ( if don't know the dates when there open. From Duck Lake about 20 min drive to Fort Carlton.

Batoche is about an hour's drive out of Saskatoon. We left late in the morning, toured the site and had a late lunch. We took the "long way" back and still got to Saskatoon in time for dinner. The last time I was in Duck Lake was 40 years go!
