Hotel Villa Casagrande Questions & Answers

This hotel looks lovely, hoping to come for a weekend with my mum and sister in February. However we are trying to keep the cost down. A few people have said Tuscany is really expensive. I've found cheap flights etc. But dont want to get stung on food/travel etc when we get there. Any advice would be great

Try the little restaurant right outside the back door on the left before you get to the square. Good prices, good food and good service. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was nice. Not huge but a good variety and filling.

Prices can range from 10 to 40 euros for a meal. Just check the menus before you go into the restaurants. We managed to only spend about 25-30 euros a meal for 2.

Had a great time in Tuscany and want to go back.

The Euro rate does not help, but if you eat outside the main city and towns it is comparable with Uk prices

Hi Sophie. The breakfast at the hotel is immense so fill up in the morning. There are plenty of reasonably priced resturants in the square for an evening meal. Use the train, it was 6.50 euros each way to Florence and only a short walk from the hotel.

As in most places there are several levels (of course not the lowest levels, as one will find in India and Thailand). Tuscanny is not more expensive than other attractive places in Europe. Only entrance fees are a bit steep, because you have to buy combinations - often more than you want/need. But then just look at the very hyped sights from the outside.

A good main course is from EUR 10 to 15. Even in the rather high end atmosphere at Casagrande's restaurant the prices are not far from the handful of town restaurants in Figline Valdarno. The one at the old town hall tower is very nice, but don't miss a dinner in the hotel. Dessert can well be Italian ice cream - gelato - from one of the shops in the town square at just a few EUR.

Train to Firenze is a reasonable price. I have no experience with taxis, as we had a car for the whole week.
