Hello, my family will be staying here in June. This will be our first trip to NOLA and would like to visit the French Quarter, can anyone tell me if it a long walk from this Hotel to Quarter or are there parking lots to park around the area? Any reccomendations will be helpful and thank you in advance!... Melissa
This is a GREAT question. One of the best benefits of our hotel is our location. We are close enough yet far enough to truly enjoy the best of New Orleans. This is assuming you don't mind a walk. New Orleans is a walking city. But there are street cars also. We are approximately a 6 minute to Canal Street which is a main artery in New Orleans that runs through the French Quarter. So YES - we are close. Yet far enough away to truly get a restful nights sleep away from the crazy fun of Bourbon Street and the rest. I'm actually living in the hotel for a few weeks and I often go to the FQ on the weekends or to the Casino or Mall... They're all a very enjoyable walk. New Orleans and the Holiday Inn Express Downtown will not disappoint you- it's a must see destination. We hope to welcome you soon.
The Holiday Inn Express on O'Keefe is about 1 mile away from the French Quarter and is an easy 18 minute walk through Union and Charles streets. I personally walked it twice during my stay there. I wasn't rushing so I stopped to take photos at the St Louis Cathedral on Charles street. Enjoy the walk!
there is a parking lot almost opposite and the hotel also has parking. French Quarter is easily walkable between approximately 10 mins away.
Parking is nearly impossible to find in the French Quarter. I would suggest leaving your car at the hotel and walking. My husband and I did this last year and it's about a 20-30mins walk to the French Quarter, depending on where you are going. Be prepares for a lot of walking! its the best way to see the city. You can also purchase an all-day tram pass at Walgreens and that will let you hop on and off the trams! We enjoyed this a lot when we needed a break from walking or wanted to go to a different part of the city that was a bit too far for us to walk to. There isn't a tram stop right next to this hotel, but there is one a few blocks away.
