Horseshoe Bend Questions & Answers

We are staying for 6 nights in Williams (July). We want to make a day trip to – Page, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend. We realize 2+ hr drive to get there. We plan to arrive by 10:30 a.m. Which tour of Antelope Canyon knowing full day (Upper or Lower). Also, saw recommendation to book a tour of Lake Powell with Antelope Point Marina. Any other tour you would recommend if not this? Also, saw a recommendation to do Horseshoe Bend hike the .75 mile to the overlook. Sunset works well for this location and is cooler. Appreciate your thoughts.

We did Lower Antelope at 3:30. You are only in the sun for a short time to walk to the opening. The canyon itself is not too hot so later doesn’t make too much of a difference.

This time of year Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon should be done in the AM, as early as possible. Monsoon rains are common mid to late afternoon. Upper and Lower are both closed if their is any indication of rain within 50 miles.

Lower antelope canyon is the tour to do. They have frequent trips in, it takes a half hour/ 45 minutes to do. Horseshoe bend doesn't take long to do. I haven't toured lake Powell, but you could probably do all 3 within a day

thank for the update. We decided on Lower Antelope Canyon, and a lot of times were already sold out in the morning for 7/12. So our plan is to do the 1 hr. boat tour at 11:30 a.m. from marina, get back at 12:30, have lunch there and then head to a 2:30 lower antelope canyon tour, finish at 3:30 and then head to the Horseshoe Bend to do the small hike .7 mile. I would think this is all we can get done in 1 day. thanks for your help.

With the heat, I wouldn't recommend doing all three in one day. We took the Ellis tour to the lower Antelope Canyon and loved it. Horseshoe Bend is wonderful but you do want to spend some time to view it and take pictures...the day we went, there were several tour buses and it was busy.

With one day, I would definitely try Horseshoe Bend and then either Antelope Canyon or Lake Powell. Horseshoe bend will not take long. We did a Lower Antelope Canyon tour which was an amazing site to see and on another day we did a kayaking tour on Lake Powell to part of Antelope Canyon. Both experiences were worth it but with the time you have you may have to pick one.
