how far is this from Bryce canyon? and Panguitch? is this within a day trip of Zion?
We are 1 1/2 hours from Bryce and Panguitch and 1 hour from Zion National Park. We are between the 2 parks, so a lot of travelers stay in Cedar City.
Erin's answer is good. St. George's weather is better in the winter than Cedar City. Having said that, though, Cedar is a good base for exploring the national parks. It is also very close to Cedar Breaks National Monument, which is really worth a trip.
And don't forget that amazing buffet breakfast at the Quality Inn in Cedar City: it'll fill you up really well, and give you a great start to the day!
It's about an hour from Zion, an hour and a half from Bryce and probably about an hour from Panguitch. You're pretty close to everything. If you're going before April / May, I'd personally prefer to stay in St. George. It's a bigger town with more to do. Zion is right on the outskirts of St. George. It definitely adds more time on your trip to Panguitch and Bryce but it's a lot more fun to stay in St George and significantly warmer than Cedar City.
