Hi everyone! Will I still see these beautiful flowers by October? 3rd week of October actually... would love to add this to my itinerary if ever!! thanks!!!!
There are still flowers in bloom in the park. It may not be like the Spring or Summer but the Gardens run seasonally. So expect to see Fall flowers in the Garden beautifully laid out and well maintained. The volunteers who work here take a lot of pride in the way the Garden looks.
I think fall foliage is far more beautiful than flowers in October at this garden and Central Park.
Yes! First frost doesn't usually arrive until November in the City. Early Autumn is an awesome time to enjoy the Central Park and its foliage.
The garden is beautiful any time of year - lovely fountains, statues, plantings. Worth the time if you want a peaceful respite, but a bit out of the way otherwise. If you go, you'll be at the top of 'museum mile' including the Museum of the City of New York, Museo del Barrio, Jewish Museum, Cooper Hewitt, and one mile south the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met).
No, you won't see any flowers. These ate only viewable by n the Spring. You will see beautiful leaves changing for the Fall though. Central Park is a great stop in the Fall.
I doubt that the flowers will still be in bloom at that time. The trees will be in an array of Fall foliage and that will be amazing. The garden in itself is beautiful and worth a visit. Happy vacation in New York City.
Unless they are doing a special planting with perennials, you won't see much in the form of flowers but the plantings and bushes are still beautiful as the rest of the park will be going through the Fall foliage. It still should be on the 'must see' list if you like formal gardens.
Try to stop by the Museum of the City of New York across the street as well. There are many great exhibitions as well. Also if you like empanadas, Tu Casa Deli is right across the street from the museum on 106th Street. For $1.25 they are worth the trip.
