The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco Questions & Answers

What's the best/least crowded cable car to take from the Ritz to family friendly restaurants for dinner. Would love a hassle free way to experience the carS & grab a bit one evening. I'll be with my husband & picky sons Friday in July but really have no idea about these areas.

Take the California St cable car towards theBay to the end near the Embarcadero. For casual American deliciousness, try Gotts in the Ferry Building for upscale burgers, shakes, fries, etc. A bit more adventuresome is the Slanted Door, also in the Ferry building. Fun, inventive nouveau Vietnamese cuisine . The most popular restaurant in SF.

As mentioned, the cable car stops only a couple of blocks from the hotel. You can take it close to North Beach (ask the concierge about the exact stop) and eat at any Italian restaurant. That was always a hit with my daughter, who is also a picky eater. Separately, walking thru the Ferry Building is filled with lots of restaurants and your sons might enjoy and we just walked there from the hotel. Have fun!

The cable car stops right near the Ritz and it is not too crowded. You might try Super Duper Burger or City Views if they like Chinese. Depending on rates and deals via Amex others, you might also stay on the concierge floor and the kids (and you!) can eat a bunch of things throughout the day and night--very nice spread there all day--fun adventure for kids and depending on cost of outside meals, could be only a bit more in the end.

It really depends on where you want to go and what time of day...I'd avoid the busy major stops and go to a minor stop a few blocks up or down and you should have no issue being able to jump on the cable car

Thank you. I actually took the California st car as many suggested. Took it at the Powell intersection to Embarcadero at about 5pm Friday and it was basically empty. Conductors actually took pictures of us riding. Great experience. Then had super at Embarcadero. Perfect combination.

To be honest, I have not used the cable cars recently. The hotel has private cars that you can reserve to take you to/from nearby restaurants. Reserve with the bellman.
