There are some good restaurants in downtown Lewisburg. Depending on how much money you want to spend. Next to the Hampton is Ruby Tuesday, Shoneys. But, if you go downtown a local favorite is Food and Friends. Another good place they say is the General Lee Lewis Inn. A new restaurant opened called the Asylum and people have said it was ok. Stella's is across from Food and Friends and is more of a French style place. Alredos opened in the mall and is a italina/greek place. I usually forget about some places as I haven't tried them.
Things to do-the Greenbrier, state parks, Snowshoe is about ~2 hours away. I have taken in the shops downtown one times, for me that was enough. Lewisburg is a very laid back town and has a lot of history if you enjoy it. The visitors center is located downtown and can give you a lot of information on the area. Greenbrier river is an excellent place to fish or even leisurely float in a tube, kayak. The trail is along the river and you can hike/walk or ride bikes.
If you like to hike or bike this is a great location. It's close to several state parks and the Greenbriar trail. Lewisburg was rated one of the best small towns in America. It has numerous historic homes and a cute little downtown. I found just walking around town quite interesting. Food can be a problem however. I was in town on Labor Day weekend. The first night I ate in White Sulfur Springs. Outside the Greenbriar Hotel food was limited and that was a Saturday night. I ate at an old downtown restaurant that had booths that were all torn up. The food was pretty bad there. The next night was Sunday. They roll up the streets that night. Food choices were limited to a historic inn, an Irish restaurant downtown, and a Chinese restaurant out on the highway. My first choice was the historic inn but I was with a friend on a budget so we settled for the Irish pub. The food was very marginal there. Food choices in nearby Covington also didn't look impressive. I could only find mostly fast food there.
There are several downtown. I have been to only one: The Livery Tavern. You can see my review of it. I was not impressed. Of course usually we stay at The Greenbrier when we are in the area and their restaurants are very good.
