are you within walking distance of any good pubs?
You are about a 5 minute walk from a pub. Think its called The Sandy Park Inn. We had a great time there as my sister had her wedding at The Mill End and we escaped for a couple of hours. Good range of real ales. Staff were very pleasant. Food looked good when it came out. It's a 5 minute walk from the hotel but no pavement. Normally its quite a quiet road. No street lighting either.
There is a pub about 100 yards up the road. There is no footpath and the road is quite narrow but it is within easy walking distance on a relatively quiet road. We went to the pub out of season (February) and the only food available during the week was sandwiches; I understand that more choices are available at the weekend. I don't know if more choice is available during seasonal months. However, the locals were really friendly and it is a cosy pub with a real fire. Parking is a nightmare when it's busy so walking is definitely the answer.
There is a pub a few hundred yards up the road if you turn left out of the hotel....haven't tried it but other hotel guests had a nice meal there....the only drawback is that there are no pathways so you have to walk on the road. Chagford has some really nice pubs ..and walking there is lovely during the day over fields by the river but will take at least Half an hour...but by car is literally a few minutes.....
Not really, Chagford is the nearest I think and that is a good 30 to 45 mins. Pretty walk from Mill End down by the river. The Bird Cage in Chagford is a pretty little tea room in Chagford for a light lunch.
