Hello. How do you get to the basin from hwy 93? Do you have to pay $12 entrance fees to park at flume george?
I did not get to the flume on this trip but there is no fee for the basin. There are signs on 93 both sides for the basis with free parking. This is a must see if you are able to
We paid no fees, but we also didn't go past the visitor's center. If you do that, then you must pay (the hike was too much for us with our knee probs). We did see lots of dogs in the entry/picnic area, but i don't think they are allowed in the visitor's center, and i don't believe they can go on the guided walk. Also, i didn't drive; my friend did all the driving, so i'm not that familiar with the roads. It is lovely, and i do highly recommend going all the way up to the top if your physical condition allows that.
The basin has it's own exit and parking lots on both north and southbound Hwy 93. If you park on the northbound side, there is a pedestrian tunnel under the highway that allows you to get there.
I believe it was a mile or two north of the Flume Gorge and there is no fee to park there.
