This summer, we'll be staying in downtown Atlanta, but definitely wanted to visit Stone Mountain for a day. We'd like to go mid-day and stay for the laser show in the evening. Does anyone have any experience using Uber or Lyft to get there/back? We won't have a car and know rideshare is usually easier than public transit...but also didn't want to get stuck out there at 10:30 at night!
Ask at the property you will be staying. It may have a service to local attractions. I did see a Uber sign outside the gate at the park. I would contact Uber to see if there is a cut off time for pick up based on the shoes completion time.
I rented a car while I was there as we did a lot of driving making it very worth it for us. I completely understand your concern as Stone Mountain is easily 30 minutes from where you’re staying. I’d ask your hotel about that - they should know. And I’d also call Stone Mountain’s guest services or their equivalent and ask.
When we went we also stayed until it closed and you do not want to get stuck out there that late. Good luck’
Hi, I've 've used Uber on several vacations and never had a problem drivers are usually very friendly and talkative and will even give suggestions of places that may be of interest to you. I stayed in College Park which is close to Hartsfield Jackson Airport and took Uber from my hotel to Stone Mountain I don't remember the distance or the toll but it's definitely cheaper than cab fare. As far as traffic goes that's something you'll have to deal w/not much you can do about that but they run around the clock so you shouldn't have a problem getting to and from your destination's The wait for a ride to arrive is generally not that long I may have waited 15mins at the most. I hope this helps
I have my own car so I haven't used Uber or Lyft. However, you may also consider the lodging in Stone Mountain Park for the night. Traffic is very heavy after the laser show is done. However, the laser show is so amazing that I don't let the traffic stop me from going. You may also consider renting a car. There are lots of things to enjoy in Atlanta! Have fun!
