We want to go during the weekend of the 19. I heard that the park was not well care, this was from a person that visited two years ago, how about now. I would love to go with my two girls and also stayed at the mountain. I was looking at the Marriot, where you stayed and if it was good. How long is the drive from atlanta
I think the park is in good shape now, nothing was closed or anything, the drive from Atlanta over is 20-30 mins depending on traffic conditions
WE were there in July! Got there in time for the laser show in the evening, is "EXCELENT"! Plan on making this a full day excursion. Take the gondola to the top of Stone Mountain for a fantastic view. Camping is available here also. The park is well maintained.
It has not rained in awhile so the color of trees are not as pretty but the park is well taken care of; privately owned so more expensive than prior ownership. Walk up the mountain and take gondola down- stunning view!
Hi i definitely recommend to go. I was there this year and i was pleased. The Marriott is a great property to stay at. I believe it's about 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta depending on traffic
It is forever always kept so very well. Dolly Parton has added so much to our St. Mt Park for the better with the Christmas lights and the shows and Stone Mountain Snow Mountain is a must you ride a lift escalator up and down the mountain and it has a snow Fort to play in the snow and build a snow castle. It has a 3D Christmas video you have to come see the beauty of the Laser show. We will never forget our Stone Mountain we here in Georgia cherish it as one of our many beautiful land marks. Hope you come out and enjoy Stone Mountain Park. Deborah M Cox
The hotel was Only 30 minutes from Stone Mountain. During the week is better. It won't be as crowded. The up keep was well done. You will enjoy it this time of year.
We were there this summer and thought the park was very nice. There are lots of hiking and walking trails all around the lake in addition to the park attractions. The RV roads are a bit worn, but if you are looking at staying at the Marriott you won't even see them. The Marriott was comfortable and well laid out.
Dont know who told you the park wasnt well cared for. It is well cared for. Has numerous attractions and trails to walk as well as the hike up the mountain. The Marriott is fine. Nothing fancy, but not sub par. And to get to downtown Atlanta. will take you about 40 minutes outside of rush hour.
