Could be a bunch of reasons. :) I'd let the front desk know, and get a room that doesn't smell.
They are renovating all of the rooms at the resort, so hopefully it gives them a fresh smell.

There could be a variety of reasons, I've never had that problem. Please go to the front and let them know. They will certainly accommodate you and have someone come in to take a look and try to understand where the smell is coming from. Disney is very customer focused so I'm sure if they can't fix it, they will try to accommodate you in another way.
Get an answer from Disney's Pop Century Resort staff and past guests.
