Is this area near or part of the old east pass marina? If not, have all of the charter boats moved to this location? Also, if not, is it right next to the bridge? It's been awhile since we have vacationed in Destin and I may have my places all mixed up. Prior to 2011 all of our family vacations since I was a baby '71 were spent in Destin. My Grandad owned one of the first condos built in Destin when it was still just a small fishing village. I have so many fond memories and can't wait to return for a visit in a couple of weeks.
The marina is on the west end of the island before the bridge. We were there for Destin Snorkel and it was great. The Captain knew where the Dolphins were and they were magical. Parasailing, boating, a bounce house in the water, plenty to do, including a pirate ship. Margaritaville was our dinner location and all were great!
Greetings - hope you enjoy your vacation! It is in fact next to the bridge. The area does seems to be fairly new, and has many restaurants as well as a boardwalk attached. Yes, there are may charter boats there as well. You cannot see the parking or the boats from the street. On the left side - just before the bridge.
Charter boats, cruises, and boat rentals are all there. Located across street from Mccguires Irish Pub.
Check beach advisories as you may not be able to get into the water.
Hope you have a great visit.
You will not believe the changes. It is wall to wall condos and restaurants. In the summer you will wait 2 to 3 hours for a table. In the winter it is a mecca for snowbirds. We love them all, but best time is when school is in session. Due to traffic, it can take nearly an hour to drive through Destin. Best time is fall. Water is still warm, sun comfortable, little traffic and much lower prices.
The harbor is right next to the pass and the Destin Bridge that crosses over to Okaloosa Island. There are a large number of charter boats, dolphin tours, etc. at this location. Hope you have a great trip.
Yes they have moved several things to different locations.
the charters are there in the harbor and as you come out of the harbor you will go right past the bridge. There is good access to the Harbor if you park at AJ's restaurant
Yes, its changed even since I was there back in the 80's. I saw charter boats in quite a few different locations. If I was checking I would call the chamber of commerce and I'm sure they can help you with the better ones.
