how late can you hike in the park for a day hike? i saw the park closes at 4pm. is that true
Yes , the tram is the key , don't miss the last tram back , check hours
Depends on the season--often there are nights when the tram runs later because there are dinners scheduled at the restaurant at the top. However, you do NOT want to be caught on the trail in the dark and it gets dark early in the mountains because even though the sun has not "set" the light is blocked by the hills. ALWAYS check with the ranger as to when you should be back. Take PLENTY of water--the desert air (and yes, these mountains are part of the desert) is VERY dry--you need to hydrate.
I believe that you need to get back to the top of the tram area to the ranger's station by 4:00PM or you will be considered missing.
I suggest that you google: San Jacinto Mountain Hiking at top of tram for several hiking websites. The sites explain and recommend everything involved with hikeing to the peak. A hiker should start the hike from the top of the tram in the morning or very early afternoon to enable you to get back to the ranger station and sign in.
the san jacinto mountain hike closes at 4 pm you need to start the hike by 3 pm there are no reservation just wait in line it was not long when I went.
It closes around dusk
No you can hike into the evening and just need to be sure you catch the last tram down.
