Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Questions & Answers

Hi,

Any suggestion how to go Zhujiajiao from Shanghai and coming back from there?

And what do you think if we want to go to Yu Garden first (around 8AM-11AM) and then to Zhujiajiao (maybe coming bac around 8PM) ?

Thanks in advance!

Subway is best.

You can get on line 10 from Yu garden station to east Nanjing road station.

Then you change to line 2 to Hongaiao railway station. Then you get on line 17 to zhujiajiao.

But I suggest you to go zhujiajiao first.

Because zhujiajiao is very nice. You should take long time. You can see real ancient China. Although Yu garden is not but, it’s is less than zhujiajiao, I thought.

I had gone there in the morning itself in a car from Shanghai & it didn't take much time (if I remeber it took less than hour).

We took a Didi (their Uber system) there and back. Sorry I cannot remember how much it cost. If you do both places in one day it will be very hurried. I would suggest that you go to Zhujiajiao 1st thing in the morning and then if you have any time left go to the garden at the end of the day.

We took the bus out, maybe a little over 1hr each way. From recollection we went out at around 11am and back again at 5pm. Lonely Planet has the bus route to take, they tell you to get off at the second last stop and we asked the conductor to tell us which they didnt grrrr... so we missed the stop and not knowing where we were paid for a tuk tuk (at a hefty price). All we needed to do was turn left out of the bus stop and walk for about 10 mins and the village was there.

I was on a guided tour so to try Ang give directions other than watch out for the other driver. I thought that both places were fantastic in the am or afternoon. So if it works out best to go to Yu Gargen first you should be happy with your choice. Have a fantastic day there, we did. I hope this helps.
