We will be in Split last few days of September and early October. We will not have a car and want to go to Plitvice Lakes. I am asking advice with regards to organised day tours or just getting the local bus. We are in our 60’s but rarely take day tours, preferring to do things ourselves. My concern is whether the local bus stop is close to the park entrances. We would prefer to go up and back in one day. Would this be feasible with local bus?
Oops, i notice i typed that I left at 8:30 pm and got there 12:50 pm. I actually left 8:30 am and got to the lakes in the afternoon at 12:50 pm (same day) stayed for about 3 hours and took a bus to Zagreb. Dubrovnik is amazing and everything is in the center for the most part.
Thank you very much for that information. Lucky you, being there for a month! We are in Opatija for 5 nights with Australian friends. They have a car and we thought we would do a day trip to Lake Bled. It’s hard when you don’t have a lot of time. We are staying 2 nights in Zadar, 4 in Split and 1 in Dubrovnik. Will just get the local bus down to Dubrovnik. Best we can do this trip.
Hi, I got my ticket from “Get by bus” I believe you can leave a few different times but I left at 8:30 pm and got dropped off right in front of the park at 12:50pm in the afternoon. The bus drops you off pretty much in front of the park maybe a 1 to 2 minute walk but it’s right there... I didn’t do a return trip because I was going to Zagreb after. But I’m sure you can get a return no problem back to Split. 22 dollars one way.
FYI, I stayed in Split for a month last October! Let me know if you have additional questions.
