We want to take the train from Cusco to Puno - is this a hotel that is reasonable close? Do they provide transportation from the train station to the hotel? and how far is the airport to fly back to Lima?
I am not sure how far the train station is, from this property, but I was told that the center of town is a 10 to 15 min cab ride away.
The closest airport from this property , I believe, is at Juliaca. If my memory serves me right, it is about a 60 min ride from the hotel.
Hope this helps
The hotel is not too far from town center - about 10 minutes/ 8-10 sols (local currency). But the train arrives in the evening, so would want to arrange a transfer before hand. We used Condor Tours & Travels, and were quite happy with their services.
The hotel itself has wonderful views of Lake Titicaca. That is its biggest selling point!
The nearest airport is Juliaca, and it is about 1 hour away. You would need a taxi to get there.
Have a great trip!
The hotel is an easy 10 minute ride from the train station; it is not in the hustle & bustle of the most populated area of the city. We wanted the peace & quiet.
The airport is a bit of a haul - 1 hr. 15 min is what I remember. Have a great trip!
As you know thé airport is Juliaca 1h drive in taxi .u have to take à privâte taxi that Will coSt u around 45 dollars ...
We also took the train from Cusco, we were met at the station by our rep, the journey took about 10 minutes from the station, there were many taxis available at the station.
We went on to Bolivia from there and were taken to the border by our rep where we were met by our Bolivian rep.
Unfortunately I cannot answer your airport question.
We flew to Juliaca and took a shuttle from there to Puno. As far as I know the hotel has no shuttle but the taxis were very inexpensive. It was less than $5 from Puno to the hotel.
The hotel is outside of the city which was good for us as it was much quieter.
The hotel can arrange a shuttle pickup for you to get back to the Juliaca airport. It took about an hour to get there.
Hope that helps. The staff at this hotel were great and they have a good restaurant too.
You will need transport from the train station to the hotel but this would apply to any good hotel. We were on a pre-organised trip so our transfer was arranged. The nearest airport to Puno is at Juliaca which is around an hour away.
This hotel is only about 15 minutes at most from the train station. To be honest, Puno itself is not that impressive so I'd recommend this hotel for it's location and views across Lake Titicaca. We had our transport organised in advance of our visit but there are plenty of taxis at the station and I am sure the hotel could help you emailed them.
The only downside is that the hotel is not really within walking distance of the town so unless you take a taxi you'll need to eat in at the Alma Restaurant at the hotel but the food is very nice here (just more expensive than in restaurants in town).
As an aside, the water is expensive in the hotel but if you walk out of the front and turn left within literally a couple of minutes walk there is a little shop where you can buy massive bottle of water for about a tenth of the price!
Hope you have a good trip.
