Is Half Board really half board, or are you stuck with a set menu or an “allowance” that barely gets you a main course?
Half Board...You are issued with a number of vouchers depending on the number of days you are staying. each day - one voucher per person. The vouchers can then be exchanged in any of the restaurants run by Jumeriah in the resort. There are one or two franchises that do not accept them such as "Black Tap" in Al Naseem...
The vouchers equate to a starter, main and dessert in most of the restaurants..in restaurants like "Latitude" in Jumeirah Beach it is a buffet so you are not limited. There are some restaurants around the resort that charge a supplement on top of the vouchers but there is still an amazing choice. The vouchers can even be put towards a seven course afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab which I can highly recommend! They are a great way to eat at all the different restaurants around the Jumeriah resort and do offer great value. They can also be used for poolside dining both around the large pool at Al Qsar and also around the small pools that are dotted around Dar Al Masyf.
Half board is exactly what it represents although some of the restaurants have a supplementary charge. You can check that with restaurant bookings before to make sure.
Half board vouchers are accepted at most Jumeirah outlets, there may be a supplement to pay for more luxurious foods. I believe vouchers are no longer accepted on the beach for dinner until after 6 by the pool.
