Hi! Is there a need to pre-book a safari? Can I just turn up at the entrance, pay the fee? How frequent are the truck services?
we booked via Viator, turned out as a 'private' tour for only 4 of us. driver/guide picked us us from hotel, took to Giraffe place, then Elephant orphanage and after that to the park. truck drivers use radio to communicate with each other and let each know if anybody spotted any big animals. we've seen quite a few! if you want to see any cats you have to go early in AM, before 6. we didn't know about it and didn't see any cats. next time we'll book the earliest possible.
Hi we prebooked. Might be best to call the park and ask them. Good luck.
Hi athizmo,we don't usually have trucks at the gate for hire. It's advisable just to have pre preparation for that. You can check with us "wasili Kenya safaris " you can throw me an email
I think you want to pre book. We did it through our travel planner but the hotel can help as well.
Better make prior arrangement, this will not fail you at all. Most of time not easy to find the safari vehicle at the main gate.
Contact a reliable safari agent to provide you with a transport so that you safe time once you get at the main entrance.
All the best.
We booked through Cheli & Peacock. We did some other sightseeing in Nairobi and got to the Park in the afternoon, and stayed until closing time. It was a beautiful, uncrowded time to be there, and we got some beautiful photos with the late afternoon sun shining through the clouds over the pond. An added bonus was that as we left, we saw the huge gathering of baboons at the exit gate, which apparently they do at the end of the day.

True to one of the answers that pick up from hotel/residence is 6a.m so at latest you are at the gate by 6.30a.m .This is subject to traffic. However we also do afternoon game drive and close at around 6.30-6.45p.m
I'm a specialist of Nairobi park.
No need to pre book. You can straight way reach and ask the security for Safari. Once you reach, just show your ID proof and yes. No cash is entertained. Please make sur eyou are using your Credit /Debit card or Mpesa (local fund transfer app).
Hope this helps.
