Congratulations on your 25th wedding anniversary.

We visit Mauritius very often but usually rent a house and a car comes with the house.

Our room was lovely and I am sure that you will be happy with what ever room you get.

I am a diabetic so I only eat vegetables and salmon so I can’t help you with restaurant suggestions as

We ate in the hotel while we were there.

I love the botanical gardens. The beaches are far away but the lovely ones are in Mon Choise.

I think that the hotel will organize a tour for you.

Have a wonderful time

In terms of rooms I think they are all good. I had a room that faced the pool and had a view of the hills. Great sunsets. There are lots of restaurants around the hotel. The Deck, the floating restaurant is good for lunch. I found dining in the hotel very expensive. Lots of tours are available, with visits to sugar plantations, the Wild South West Full-Day Scenic Tour was pretty good.

The other thing that I did which I found very moving was visiting Aapravasi Ghat. It tells the story of indenture servants from India and how their journey to Mauritius. i grew up in Jamaica so it provided a lot of insight.

Enjoy Mauritius

Labourdonnais is a great hotel staying in higher floors overlooking the harbour for a couple of days. After this, we rented a car and used the smaller town of Trou aux Biches to stay and as a base to visit other parts of the island. It can be a long drive from one location to see other parts of Mauritius.

Renting a car and driving will be with no issues for somebody from Mumbai. The roads are safe and in good condition.

Try to stay in high floors with harbor view at Labourdonnais Hotel.

While in Mauritius. Go to Grand Baie on the Northcoast. 20 Degrees Sud is a wonderful boutique hotel. I stayed there recently. One of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. You will not be sorry. Best. Rich Vinroot

Hi Priyanka and Ajar

I am very sorry but only now catching up on correspondence. Unfortunately your trip has come and gone but I hope that you had an enjoyable time anyway.

May I add that - as a general rule - I would elect to hire cars from a reputable Agency (this might be a little more costly but worth it especially in terms of insurance etc).

In terms of places to dine - if you return to Mauritius I would recommend a buffetdinner on a theme night (specifically a Mauritian / Creole dinner and dance) at La Pirogue Hotel in Flic en Flac. The buffet is very traditional and gives a very good idea of Mauritius food and hospitality. If you were to do this I would recommend staying the night in a room at La Pirogue as it can be dangerous driving far at night.

With our best wishes.

I was there for work and did not do much touring. The hotel is well located for doing business in the city, but not convenient to beaches and other sites. If I were going on a vacation I would stay elsewhere near the beaches.
