Hi I asked a little while ago but lost my post.
We are coming to Barbados soon and were wondering how much a meal out would cost 2adulfs and 1 child.
We aren't looking for fine dinning, just average nice resatraunts that are reasonable in price (if possible in Barbados).
Are they flexible with food for fussy eaters ? (Child and hubby :-/ )
We don't want to spend a fortune - we were looking to bring £1000 for 8 days ?
Hi, sorry for the late reply, just back today from a holiday in Spain. Someone mentioned Surfside, it wasn't expensive and you can jump on the Reggae bus which is very cheap. Scarlet's across the road was'nt expensive either, both these restaurants serve relatively basic food. The best value was a night at Oistin's, seafood and chicken dishes for not a lot of money, again you can take the bus and it won't cost a fortune. This is only on a Friday night, it takes a while getting there but loads going on (the music can be very loud, something that the kids might not take to. The bottles of Banks beer is a steal at 4 for $10 here. Can't offer much more advice, we are at the hotel a few nights and the rest were
at overly expensive fine dining venues. Enjoy your holiday.
The Tamarind was very accommodating for our fussy 5 year old diner. We took meals on site (bar menu) at the Colony Club and at Cariba. We also had lunch at Surfside in Holetown and they did have a kids menu. I think your budget will be fine excluding bottles of wine. The wine and rum punch sent our bills higher than they would have been.
Enjoy your trip, Barbados is wonderful.
£1000 should be ok if you stay away from the really expensive restaurants.
I would say that they'll cater for the fussy eaters, as all the places we visited were so friendly.
It does depend what you are looking for really I always budget for $200 US dollars per day and we eat out well , main things that put the price up is wine .
The local buses are friendly and fun cost $1 US dollar per person anywhere on the island , some local restaurants such as just grillin are a cheap night out.
The hotel does do kids eat free plan with one paying adult .
Food can be pricey but 1000 pounds should be ok. There is "not fancy" food served at tables near the bar next to where breakfast is served. They have burgers and salads. We only went next door to Dapbne's once. Our other meals were at the main restaurant on the premises. You can always check the menu before making a reservation. Not sure, but there may be a kid's menu if your child is under a certain age. Hope this helps. Taxi fares can be expensive to go off the premises for a meal.
