Need suggestion about visiting Leknes:
We are going to visit Leknes islands, Norway on this coming July with cruiseship. The cruise company charges few hundreds on full day tour to Lofoten islands and village of A that is kind of high fee. Renting a car would be a good idea, unfortunately, arriving date for us is on Sunday that no car rentals open in Europe.
Maybe a taxi with driver?
What is your suggestion ? We are two people only.
We went on an organised tour with the Hurtigruten and it was definitely worth while. We were taken into the fisherman's original cottages and shown how they worked and were told all about the fishing industry and about the town. We found it very worthwhile.
The town is lovely. Good luck.
The day we were there it was pouring with rain (August!) so we were quite glad that we hadn't booked an expensive tour. We took a tender ashore, had a wander around the gift shop, and boarded a free local bus to some shops in a village. The best bit was sailing in and out of the area - the scenery from the ship was spectacular when the weather improved!
