Why do you want people to order more than what they can eat? Don't put something in your menu if it is not meant to be ordered without conditions. And than the attitude and customer handling was pathetic. There is another indian restaurant just behind you and I felt lucky that because of the pathetic experience at Ravi's kitchen I got a chance to eat there.
Is your food so bad that you don't even mind people wasting it by forcing them to order more than what they can eat. Two main courses for two doesn't work for Indian menu because we always have rice, breads to go along with it. Highlight it on the main board of your shop so that people don't waste their time climbing up the stairs only to see the rude staff.
