First European trip coming up and seriously considering your hotel. So here is likely one of the most naïve questions you've received: how prominent are American-style power outlets? Should we purchase adaptors?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Yeah, you'll need voltage converters for sure. I ordered one from Amazon that had outlets and USB ports so we could charge multiple phones/cameras at once. Hope you enjoy your trip, and safe travels
Hi! You will love Europe. Bring power adapters. Although our room at the Clontarf had a couple of outlets for different plugs, this is not the rule for most hotels. Most of Europe uses the same two round prong adapter, Great Britian and Switzerland have different adapters. I brought a power strip/ surge protector because we have so many things to charge, cell phones, iPads, etc. you won't need a converter. Most all electronics made in this century are 110/220 compatible. Hope this helps.
Absolutely purchase power adaptors. Radio Shack has kits.
We stayed at Clontarf Castle just a few weeks ago and our suite definitely did have a few American style outlets. They also provided a hair dryer. Most of the places we stayed had at least one outlet, but if you are staying in a small hotel or in a small town they may not have them so it is wise to bring your own just in case.
The hotel may provide american power adaptors but you should purchase some at the airport anyway just in case they run out of them as they may only have a limited supply. Enjoy your holiday - it's a fabulous hotel!
Great question!! There are NO American style outlets there at all. We traveled in Ireland and Northern Ireland (UK) and there wasn't any American outlets. We did buy this on Amazon: "EZO Power 200 watt international travel charger voltage power converter". It worked great! Has 4 USB ports plus three of our American outlets on it. You can't use it for high wattage stuff like a hair dryer, but it kept our phones, camera batteries, etc. charged the entire time. It comes with all of the plugs that you could probably ever need (Europe/Asia/Eastern Europe). Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions. It was our 1st time traveling to Europe as well and it went great.
I remember clontarf having American style power outlets but other places may not...I would definitely bring an adapter with you.Enjoy clontarf castle, we had an amazing time there.
Hi there...Yes you will need to buy an adapter specifically for Ireland. We purchased a package of multiple ones and they have the country name on them. You will love this hotel, its beautiful and amazing service. Have a great vacation
